Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
Hi Joelle! I like your avatar with the mustache finger. ;D
Hi!
I'm new here and working hard to change my eating habits! From what I've learned so far this is the best way to go!
Hi Gunny and Welcome! Thanks for introducing yourself and creating a profile. I hop eyou find this site useful. If you have any questions or comments, don't be shy to post them!
I don't think I ever posted here!
:-[
Okay, so... Hi! I'm Jeanette! I've been a member probably for almost a year now, since I became vegetarian last August. Took a hiatus from the site when drama exploded, but was coaxed into returning. MDVegan and I have been best friends since high school, but she left me to go to California... and now I left her to come to Louisiana. Someday, we'll meet somewhere in the middle and be happy, I guess!
I have a wonderful boyfriend named Josh, and we're best friends too! I guess I have a few "best friends" come to think of it... anyway, Josh and I live together, and he eats vegetarian at home with me. Actually, me changing to a veg*n diet was his idea. They way I talked about MDVegan and how I felt about animals, food, and everything, he thought I'd be happier not eating meat... and he was right!
Let's see... I'm generally pretty happy and optimistic. Purple is the best color ever. I joke around a lot and try my best to say what I mean, even at the risk of being too blunt. I'm an internet junkie, I love being online... and I will likely be around here quite a bit because you guys have AMAZING recipes and also because I'm interested in moving my life in a better direction (diet and otherwise)... and it seems most of you are already taking that road.
So, hello, nice to meet you, and don't be afraid to message me or something. I do have a MySpeace page at www.myspace.com/jeanacorina -just let me know you're from VegWeb and I'll be happy to add you!
;)b

I moved to the mainland from Hawai`i ( chicago) for school that I haven`t started yet. I want to study biology and hope for exceptance into a vet tech program. I am a low scored highschool grad though so we`ll see.
Hi, I've been on here for awhile but never posted in the foums so I figured I'd go for it tonight while watching House. New Years Eve I was at a bar eating nachos and decided that the next day I would stop eating dairy, eggs, and meat. I was a veg for about 5 years then went back to eating meat and always felt quilty about it, then it really started to get to me about what I was eating and I started to feel really bad about it. I'm 25, live with my 11yr old cocker spaniel Muffin, 2 yr old min pin Boomer and 2 yr old cat Kenzie. I work as a server until I pass my NCLEX exam and become a real RN, I'm very excited. I love vegweb!
and we have a cat who plays fetch and who looks like
A Snoop Dog
B a camel
C Ben from LOST
we also drink way to much diet soda, there are like 7 empty 2 liters in the trash can currently :OOO
yup and we play workd of warcraft, woohoo. I get to shoot fire at people, and tell really bad nerdy Wow jokes.
i love anything lemon flavoured, and I can't cook tofu to save my life.
au revoir :D

Hello, everyone. My name is Christine and I found this site about 2 yrs ago when I went from a meat eater to straight strict veggie. Only one on both sides of the family, but my husband is very supportive and loves alot of the food that I cook. Though his chlosterol is still too high so he is currently medicated.
Last May we travelled to China to adopt our daughter who is now two. She is so sweet, funny, and just a great little girl. We have a dog and cat who ruled the house until our daughter came home.
I like to cook and sweet pea likes to help, but it just doesn't seem to keep her attention long enough to let me finish the dish. Any suggestions for quick, yummy, dishes, with minimal prep time would be great.
I never really checked out the forum until just recently, so I never saw this thread to introduce myself, I think :P, I figured I would do it know.
Ummm, I think that is the important stuff.
I can't cook tofu to save my life.
au revoir :D
I can't seem to make or find any seitan that I like.
Christine
Your daughter is a sweetheart, Christine! So cute.
Hi y'all, since I started my own thread recently, I thought I better introduce myself. :)
I'm Cassie, just began the transition to vegan about 2 months ago after being a lacto-vegetarian for just over 6 years. My husband is ovo-lacto, as is our 3 year old little boy, who is the light of my life. We also have two awesome companion animals, Sam and Molly. Sam is a Lab mix and Molly is a Border Collie mix. I've had them both since they were puppies, and they are now coming up on 7 and 8 years old. I brought them all the way from the States to live with us here in the UK, so they're pretty special to me. :)
I am a photographer, though I do some part-time work as a receptionist in a local hotel, which is where I usually post from, LOL.
I love this site and am super excited to have found the forums recently!
Welcome Cassie!
I have a Molly too. She is the black dog in this picture. We think she is shephard/dobermin

Oh, she is gorgeous! My Molly is a Border Collie/Pit Bull mix. My ex's old roomate adopted her from a NYC shelter, and then decided she didn't want her, so we re-adopted her. We acquired Sam a year later from a home where he was abused. :( They have been my constant friends through many tears and smiles these last several years. :)
Your daughter is a sweetheart, Christine! So cute.
Thanks! KissMeKate! We think so too, but as all parents we're alittle bias. :)>>>

Oh my goodness, I have wanted to adopt twin baby girls from China since I was 11!!! I have websites bookmarked, and I research it all the time. And she is SO adorable.
I can't seem to make or find any seitan that I like.
Two suggestions, in case you haven't tried them (click to go to recipes):
Seitan o' Greatness
Julie Hasson's Spicy Italian Vegetarian Sausage
Both of these are really popular. But maybe you just don't like seitan, which is OK too. :)
Susan V’s Barbecued Seitan Ribz

Pinkerbell03, if you have any questions let me know. I will be happy to answer them for you. Twins are kinda hard to adopt, but some say they are starting to become more common since the parents are not as likely to seperate them. Seems for awhile the parents would abandon the twins in two different places, I guess for fear and ensuring they would be found and well cared for. :'(
Thanks kissmekate and humboldt_honey for the suggestions. I am going to take a look at them now! ;)b I think I'll try seitan a couple more times and then maybe if I can't find a good recipe assume that I don't like it. We LOVE the Yves beef bbq skewers here. If my husband had his way we'd eat them for lunch two or three times a week! That's a seitan right?
I've been using vegweb for a while, mostly for the recipes, but recently I'm starting threads left and right, so I figured I should introduce myself. I'm 26 years old and a grad student in Dallas. I've been married about a year and a half. My husband and I have very similar veg histories, although we lived in different states at the time: we both started turning ovo-lacto in junior high, and went vegan pretty much right when we started college. I had a short ovo-lacto relapse, but went vegan again when I started learning to cook. I have a crazy sweet tooth to go with my weight problem, so I'm constantly trying to make desserts healthier, and of course I've been using every slightly special day as an excuse to make cupcakes. My husband is from New Orleans, which I think I constantly mention in recipe reviews regarding spiciness. He works for a church, and I go to school and work at school and live at school (it's why we moved here, after all). We're about to get a cat, which is my first as an adult and our first one together. I'm on a huge cooking kick right now, but I'm light-years away from creating the kind of recipes some of you guys post! I really appreciate all the great food and the moral support.
It has been months and months since I was here last, so I thought I would pop in again and say "Hi"
