Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
I can't seem to make or find any seitan that I like.
Two suggestions, in case you haven't tried them (click to go to recipes):
Seitan o' Greatness
Julie Hasson's Spicy Italian Vegetarian Sausage
Both of these are really popular. But maybe you just don't like seitan, which is OK too. :)
Made the seitan o' greatness today. From the small taste that I had it was much better than anything before. So now I have to find a recipe to make with it! Thanks Kissmekate for letting me know about the link!
I guess I'm the n00b now. :D
I've been here recipe searching many times, but never joined the forums until baypuppy joined in on our local potluck meetup planning thread on another board, and we decided to open it up to vegweb, and I figured I might as well sign up for another veg forum account. Can't have too many!
I am 28 (29 next month!) and have been a vegetarian since I was 15. I am actually in the sort of grey zone between vegetarian and vegan. I cook/bake entirely vegan, and won't outright eat dairy or eggs, but am forgiving of minor lacto/ovo ingredients in processed foods. I identify myself as a vegetarian though, much to the confusion of the omni/vegetarian community. :P
I am getting my PhD in Social Welfare and live in central/upstate NY with my bf of 3 1/2 years and my (our?) two cats Monchichi (blue tabby) and Atticus (massive black monster). I work as a research assistant for my tuition and a meager stipend. I enjoy cooking, crochet, gardening, reading, sleep, and other such wholesome activities. I have chronic digestion problems that you might hear me complain about (and argh, I managed to forget my medicine at home this morning). The boy and I hope to be homeowners by the spring ("zOMG you're not MARRIED" -- I get that a lot). I hate air conditioning and am sitting here at work right now in a fleece sweatshirt and socks with my sandles -- warmth before looking cool!
I think that's all I have to say right now.
hey vicky! yay for going vegan!
post lots and lots. we like people who post. we are talkative.
You know, I never posted in here. :hrmm: :smooth:
No wonder we never liked you. >:D

My name is Laura. I am 22 years old, and have been married since December to the wonderful an i met in college =-). This past May I graduated from Berea College with a degree in Psychology. Unfortunately, my husband has another year of school left, and Berea is in BFE, so finding a job that uses my degree with the current gas prices is very hard.
I've been on vegweb for few years, and just got an account a couple days ago. I've been interested in vegetarianism since highschool and have tried it a few times, all ending in disasterous illness, due to inavailability of nutritious foods and a lack of proper dietary planning on my part. The whole idea of eating meat just kinda freaks me out really. Why should my cat live and the cow die...just cuz my cat is cuter?
Anyways....I'm trying vegetarianism once again...but slowly this time. I'm gradually cutting out meat, and cutting back on dairy, so that I can get more information under my belt as I go and hopefully will not get sick this time.
I'm also hypothyroid, so that's a lot to deal with too. I have to be very in tune with my body =-)

If you're interested in this, do a vegweb search. We discussed it ad naseum last fall so there should be easy to find info about it. There's a split camp, since cat's are carnivores instead of omnivores, like us. Anyway, it's all thoroughly discussed in those other threads.
Hello all, my name is Ric. I'm 25 years old, and trapped in a time warp. I live in New England, which is boring as hell. I run my own business while looking for a "real" job, so I can save up and get out of here. I'm pretty punk rock, or at least that's what I'm told. I like hanging out with nerds.
I am back on the veg*n train after being omni for 5 years (?). I honestly do not know why I started eating meat again. I think back and I just draw a blank. Vegetables are far more tasty and veg*nism is so much better for the environment. ;) I was previously a veg*n for 10 years. I officially joined vegweb to keep me on track and inspired, as far as my cooking goes. It's been a month since I came back to my favorite lifestyle, and I've lost 10 pounds and feel awesome. Niiiice.
Anyway, it's nice to meet you all, and I hope to make the most of my vegweb experience.

Welcome! what type of business?? Sorry im nosy and interested in people who start business, i like picking their brains ::)
Hi I'm Nikki and I was a vegetarian for 9 months two years ago and then went insane and started eating meat again while I was going through a very stressful time in my life. The next time I went through a stressful time, I went back to being vegetarian and it has been two months now.
Here's a little about me:
I'm 39 years old (Libra), live with my Mom in Ocala, Florida and I enjoy reading, practicing Hatha & Kundalini Yoga, Buddhist meditation, eating vegetarian (obviously) and trying not to screw up the planet anymore than it already is.
I work as a Metaphysical Counselor and have a couple of successful websites dedicated to computer and video-gaming (grrlgamer.com) and metaphysical issues (magickrituals.com). I've been working on the web in one form or another for 13 years.
I am widowed, have one cat named Lucy (a tuxedo kitty) and I don't drive. It's a phobia.
I have the hots for Gordon Ramsay even though he is a omnivore and foul-mouthed.
I adopted a pig named Harry from Farm Sanctuary. I also adopted a goat named Neko from Animal Acres.
My favorite film is Blade Runner.
I am a Bookins addict.
I love bento, Hello Kitty and all things kawaii, I collect Re-Ment, Fashion Dolls (Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Momoko and Misaki) and Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth and Nene Thomas faeries.
My favorite TV show is BBC's Bargain Hunt with David Dickinson.
I watch American Idol every year but am deeply ashamed of it.
Eddie Izzard is my executive transvestite soulmate.
My favorite TV show is BBC's Bargain Hunt with David Dickinson.
That show hooks you in......I sit there and yell at the contestants when they make stupid purchases. ::) :D
Hello! Hi! Im Jing. I've been vegan recently and was vegetarian on and off since I was a child. ;) Life as a vegetarian here in the Philippines is very very hard hard. Almost all people are ignorant about what vegetarian is and very clueless about what vegan means. It's is also hard because some people are not that supportive about my change of lifestyle. But I hope they'll accept later on.
Anyway, it is so nice to be here.
