OMG Dave! Who's kids are those?! I want dogs, kids, a kitty, maybe a rabbit, perhaps a chinchilla......OK, so basically I need a ranch! I'll work on that since I have none of the above currently. :(

I know you intended for this to be fun but it's a very painful issue for me. I couldn't have children when I was younger and now I'm of an age where even massive medical intervention wouldn't make it possible. :'( :'( :'( :'(
I chose to save a few cats.

Sorry to hear that TinTexas. :'(This was just posted to make people laugh. When my sister-in-law was not able to have anymore children, she and my brother adopted a wonderful little girl from Cambodia. Just like dogs and kitties, there are many children around the world looking for loving homes. Did you ever think about going that route? In the long run, it is so rewarding for all of those involved. :)

We tried going the foster/adopt route here in Texas. Couldn't deal with the bureaucratic red tape and a local Children Protective Services (they run the foster/adopt and foster care system) worker who didn't want to have to deal with us. In all fairness, there is only one family fostering in Uvalde County (last time I checked) and the dozens of kids put into care from here are scattered all over South Texas and he has to travel all over to check on them. We don't have the $$ to do a foreign adoption. If we relocate to another county, we will try again to make the system work for us.
Adopting a child still doesn't remove the heartache of never feeling your own baby kicking inside you, though.
Peace & Love, Tonia

Thanks, yabbitgirl! She is lovely, and definitely knows it. In this picture she's doing what I call her "princess pose" and staring like she's trying to hypnotize me. It must be working... :D I can never resist talking about my kitty. She's 1/4 bobcat and 1/2 himalayan. 1/4 something else? Sorry to hijack your thread Davedrum! You did have it coming, however... ;)

If I hadn't already discussed our fab five in another thread, I'd go on at great length about them. I need to take pics and post them to my photo gallery here.
Yabbitgirl, I don't feel a bit ignored. When someone makes the assumption that having kids is totally a choice (not having them is under 99% of your control - even birth control pills fail in about 1% of the case, if I recall the stats right), it just hurts a bit. Sometimes all the medical intervention available can't conceive a baby and bring it to term. I just comment and move on.

Sorry I did not add a "cats" category! :P This was an email I received from a local animal rescuer, and I posted it here. Anyone have a "great" cat calamity pic to add?! :D

I choose DOG but we don't have any (one for me and one for him - both called Rusty, how's that going to work?) because we work full time and I think they need companionship too - but ONE DAY ... I did ask for fish once (living ones fear ye not!) and he said that they were just like dogs and what would happen when we went on holiday, etc.,
I choose neither, because of this: :)
