Help, I am so scared...

I did something I am not proud of when me and my guy friend were drunk on New Years.  We had unprotected sex and went all the way, something that I have never done before.  I have never had sex before with nothing to stop a pregnancy. I am so stupid, we were so stupid, it was a very stupid thing to do, why did I do it?  But we were drunk, knew better, but did it anyway.  OMG, I am shaking I am so terrified.  I am 30 and a college graduate so I am not too young, but I am  not ready for a baby.  I am so scared.  My friend lives 1000 miles away, it would be hard for us to get our lives together to take care of a baby, I am not ready to be a single mom.  Please tell me that I am not preggers.  I don't want to be and am really scared right now.  Please, pray for me, that I am not preggers and that I start my period this month just like normal.  I am due for my period next weekend.  I pray that I have my period, or a miscarrage, or something.

Odds are that if you are going to have your period next weekend then you are not ovulating, and thus not pregnant.  Since you typically ovulate around day 14, day 1 being the first day of your period, so you are probably on day 25ish.  I am in a similar boat, I could have a baby, I am almost 30 etc, and I have had numerous scares(stupid broken condoms  >:(), and I know how it feels.  Just try to relax and be patient.  I hope that helps!

First, try to stay calm.  There is a morning after pill and I would get yourself to a drug store ASAP.  I think it should be taken with 72 hours but maybe it can be taken a few days after although not as effective.  In Canada, one doesn't need a prescription but has to fill out a questionnaire. Talk to the pharmacist.

What is done is done so do NOT beat yourself up over it.

I am sure many of us, although many might not admit it have been in a similar situation.

Please get to a pharmacist as soon as possible,  I think it is called plan B or something.

Keep us posted.

In the states, the morning after pill is called "Plan B."  Different states have different rules for it, but I know in Ohio you can get it over the counter. DiverDi is right, you do need to take it within 72 hours.  But it's probably not needed!

Also, even if you don't get your period around the time you should, it doesn't DEFINITELY mean you are pregnant.  It could be that all your stress and worrying has delayed your period.  And if you do get your period, it can be a "false one", and you should get a pregnancy test regardless. (maybe an STD check too, just to be on the safe side)

Totally agree.  An STD check is advisable including HIV.  Not trying to scare you but it is better to be safe than sorry.  I know!

Just go get the whole business district checked out-- is it, perchance, time for your yearly?  That would be mighty convenient, as they test your urine, test for STD's and all of that junk... at least my Doc does.  Rather, I request it.

See....that's what I've been talking about....this SEX thing outside of marriage. Just glad to hear it was with someone of the opposite sex...it could have been a real mess otherwise...Sex always messes things up...I DO mean "mess" you know... k...i'll stop being an ASS now...there's a mod on board....

anyway.....

Yeah...taking the "morning after pill" (Plan B) as AK said would help if it's still within that time frame. Most likely you're fine. The monthly "window of opportunity" for you to get pregnant is so slight that the odds are in your favor that you did not get pregnant. If you're worried abut STD's look up a clinic and get tested. Most of all...relax...it was just that...sex...normal and natural. You did NOTHING wrong, so don't beat yourself up about it....k?

In Canada, STD's are not regularly checked unless you ask.  Guess that is because our checkups are government funded.  They don't want to pay for more than they have to.  But if you ask, it is covered.  Hopefully, most of us don't have to request these types of tests because we know who we are with or take precautions to prevent STD's.  But...... sh*t happens.  Every time we have unprotected sex with a partner, we are sleeping with all of their partners as they are sleeping with all of ours.

Good on you Meggs to take a proactive approach and request these types of tests.

i had a scare of my own a year ago (ah!) and i rushed right to the health clinic to get plan b.  it was rather easy.  i felt like crap for a day, then had a constant yeast infection/bladder infection for about 6 months.  BUT! no baby.  horay!  I wouldnt take any chances and go straight to the doctor before you have to have an abortion, or even worse, a baby.  gross.

my midwife, a year ago, wouldnt give me plan b, so thats why i had to go to this health clinic, it has walk ins and such.  you should be able to find something similar to that.

plan b will only work if you are not prego already, so that is why its so important to do it asap.

As difficult as it may be, RELAX. Don't stress out, or you'll probably have a very funky period that will make you even more worried.

Get the Plan B thinger, get checked out, and get a pregnancy test no matter what.

And, hey, at least it was with a friend and not some total stranger.  :)

Oh, yeah: and next year, maybe don't drink quite that much.

I'm sure you'll be fine.  ;)

Here it requires a prescription, but I just walked into my doctor's and asked him for one and he wrote it.  In fact, he gave me two doses. You could probably call your nearest hospital and ask if they would write it if it's the same as it is here.
Hiimkelsi is right, makes you sicker than a dog but babies are icky.
There are also some things they can give you, shots and pills, that will try and prevent you from getting certain STDs.  I don't remember what they're called, but they're super expensive and they might just give them in case of emergency, but they do exist

Other than that, wait it out, babies aren't the WORST thing in the world. Go get your std check on and bring a friend, I find it to be an enjoyable afternoon activity to hear that I have no diseases. Next time you'll remember to be safe because worrying is a shitty feeling.

And then come on...high five, you know you want to.

I was very lucky then as Plan B didn't make me sick or give me any sort of reactions in the least.  I did however have to fill out a questionnaire that I thought was no ones business.  I think the point of the questionnaire was to make people feel that this wasn't a form of birth control but an oops!

I guess it was basically informing me that I knew what I was doing and agreed to it.

Plan B was also not the cheapest thing, only two pills.  Money well spent though. It is hard to put a price tag on peace of mind.

you can really only get pregnant 2-3 days of the month if that, and its pretty hard to do. I wouldn't stress over it. take the plan b just in case though! no worries! i hope the sex was good at least!  ;)

Well no one else I sleep with gets tested, I might as well help them all out by doing it.

planned parenthood has always been the helper when theres a condom breakage, even though Ive always been able to telll when that happens and avoided an unprotected blow out, some of the ladies dont want to take that risk, and I am fully supportive of that...cause as Hiimkelsi said, babies are gross

good luck

It'll be ok, you'll be able to high-five, SQ, just like F33 said, it can be an enjoyable activity to end the worrying.  I was just with a friend this morning who took a preggo test- she got the "not preg" sign and was ecstatic... it was just peace of mind.

I think it's 40, you can exhale for another decade now.
