The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.

So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!

Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged.  In fact, they are mandatory.

So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food?  Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate!  I would love to  have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors.  And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.

Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color.  THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?

and about vcon... I am getting there! I've got a little over half of the book completed. I make lists every week of recipes I am going to try and cross them off as it happens. I'm going through the main courses right now and making one dessert a week! Up next is the eggplant rollatini and the moussaka. I will definitely make everything by the end of the year!

I thought you probably would be! Neat. I think I'll be that way with JOVB....I made multiple things this last week....for some reason, I just can't get into V-con. I've only made 3-4 things.

I am afraid to get JOVB because I already struggle with my sweet tooth!

V-con is great. The first few things I tried from it were great and that got me hooked.

Did you know you can watch Battlestar Gallactica online?

Yep!! My bf and I watch all our TV online (all our TV= BSG/Grey's Anatomy), seeing as we don't have cable...or a tv. Are you caught up w/ the current season? I'd love to have someone to chat with about it. Like how freakin crazy Starbuck is!

She's nutso!  I can't believe the mutiny didn't come sooner.  My co-worker got me hooked.  We watch the previous seasons at lunch (some attorneys that borrowed a couple of offices for a while left behind a TV and DVD player).  I know what's currently happening and up to about 3/4 of the way through Season 2.

eta:  Maybe Season 3?  In the shows we're watching at work, they got off of the planet where the cylons were holding them a few episodes back.

Lent is a Catholic observation prior to easter where everyone is supposed to shun something that they enjoy (I think in imitation of Christs sufferings?). It is most common for Cath's to forgo eating "meat" during Lent, but fish seems to be ok with them.

I think that Protestants also observe Lent, don't they?  Observant Roman Catholics abstain from eating meat on Fridays during lent (and yes, meat does not include fish in this case).

I don't really know a lot about religions, but would it be against any religions (such as Catholicism) to be vegan? I guess it's probably one of those things where some people say it is, some don't...all of that interpretation stuff...hm.

It would not be against Catholicism to be vegan (though I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find some nut who'd say that it is).  I'm not aware of any religions that require you to eat any food in particular, though several have prohibitions against consuming particular items.

I just burned my blowing finger making veggie burgers and now I can't bowl.  Bummer.  Didn't want to go anyway.

Yeah, fish is OK for Catholics and Orthodox Christians.  But it certainly wouldn't be against Catholicism to be vegan at all.  I don't think there is a religion that dictates a vegan diet, though--many that dictate vegetarianism, though!  But then there are people who think veganism is some kind of pagan religion/cult, of course.....oy.

Yay for this thread! :w00t!:
I was just thinking the other night that this forum needed a random, aimless posting thread, because I wanted to post something that really didn't need a thread of it's own.  So here is what I wanted to post........

I made a fantastic dinner the other night and as I was cooking/eating it I thought how fantastic vegweb is.  My dinner consisted of spinach w/tofu paneer and chana masala, with shortbread cookies for dessert.  It was soooo delicious and I thought of vegweb because all the recipes were from here, and so if I had never discovered VW I wouldn't have had such a good dinner.

So thanks everyone for making VW what it is ;)b

That's awesome, sb!  So we can ask you about pretty much any of the recipes.  I'm slowly but surely doing the same for cupcakes.

Mayday!  Mayday!  Call a nurse!  Oh, wait...  ::)

Hope it was just a little burn and you'll be back bowling in no time.  Not to show off, but my all time bowling high was around 80.

HH!!

I am the proud owner of a nintendo Wii. And I'm a kick-ass Wii bowler (and I'm a Pro tennis star, but we'll get into that later). So obviously, you need to deep clean your house, sell it, then move up here to BFE, we'll find an awesome place sans bugs/lizards, and we'll play Wii in between studying for nursing school. And there's that.

I wonder how many males secretly read the Diva thread.  I remember wormywyrm joining in the discussion.  But he doesn't post anymore.  :'(  I wonder if he knows the forums are back.  He was nice.

I went over my parents for dinner last night. My mom just wanted chinese food, so I had general taos tofu & it was actually really good (usually they get takeout from a crap place, apperantly they found a better place). plus I brought over VCTOTW coconut lime cupcakes, which were killer! My husband, dad, & sister were fighting over the leftovers! I highly recommend them, just make half the frosting though
