This topic has come up briefly in a few threads over the last few months:
How many VegWebbers are male/female?
I appologize in advance for not having "other" options but I figured it'd be okay to put what you most identify with to get a basic idea.
If BP or anyone else has options that they wish to add let me know and I'll edit the poll! ;)
I allowed each user to have 2 votes since many of us have significant others who don't have vegweb user names but are "known" on the boards (nutdragon, mdvegan, me etc.)
So only use your second vote if you wish to count your SO in the poll.
Oh BTW my own random based-on-no-real-facts opinion, is that I only see male vegans, never male vegetarians...
Prove me wrong someone! ;)

Isn't Tweety a vegetarian? If I'm remembering right anyway..

I just stalked his profile and you are correct. :)

Awesome!
I guess I thought he leaned on the vegan side of things.

I was vegetarian (and male) for three or four years, before I went vegan... I know a male vegetarian... I used to know two, but one just went vegan!
A pair of options as follows might be nice: something like "I identify as neither male nor female and I am vegetarian/vegan"
I too was veggie for 5 years before becoming totally vegan. Even though I had some sort of cheese addiction...all it took for me was to finally realize how friggin' gross it was....where it came from...and that I was putting rotten, puss and blood filled, spoiled cows milk past my lips and into my body to....er...make the switch. :o

ewww dairy. whenever i read something like that it makes me want to barf. dairy = super gross.
I'm glad I haven't had breakfast yet.
uhh, can you change it so we can change our votes? :-[ ::) ;D
Why?
Have you decided to run out to the market to buy some cottage cheese and guzzle it down like a big curdled beer? :o
LOL! It should be changeable... that's how I set it up... when I go to edit it won't let me though!
Are you implying that BP chugs beer for breakfast? ;)
yes, and it is all because of your dairy talk! UMM CHUGGING MILK :o na, i originally posted two votes and i want to move my vote to a more appropriate category. where is the barf face when i need it?

well no.....but since i feel like shit today....(but already did my run for the day early this morning).......maybe a BIG Bloody Mary with lots of horseradish for breakfast is in order and would not be the worst of ideas.... ::)
PS: if I start getting really goofy on here later...(well...at least more then usual)....you'll know if i decided to take that route..... finishing packing up my house for the move....well I can think of no better way to get it finished....only small problem with that....it just means I won't be able to find anything when I get to my new home...

I didn't realize you were moving. I remember from previous posts that you said it was time for a change. Where to? I'm a bit jealouse. I'm feeling a bit gypsyish right now.
Dave - I just moved 3 weeks ago. I wasn't even drinking, but I still ended up with all kinds of crazy stuff put together in boxes (that were labeled) . . . it just makes for more fun when you're unpacking! ;)

You're moving?? I didn't know either!
Will this mean a vegweb hiatus?? Let us know so we don't worry!
Talk about getting off topic.... ::) (j/k)
JH, you mentioned the male vegan thing a while ago and I've thought a little about that. Perhaps this is a bit sexist, but it seems to me that men generally think in more absolute terms where as women tend to negotiate, especially when it comes to food sources.
It also seems to me (and this is a broad generalization, I realize, so hold your fire) but that men tend to fall into either the strict philosophical killing is wrong camp or the health-nut camp and there really is little room for compromise in either way of thinking. I think if you asked 100 women veg*ns why they are veg*n you'd probably get several dozen answers and degrees of those answers. Whereas you might only get a few from the guys.
I think it takes a lot of balls (so to speak) for a guy to make the transition from omni to veg*n. I think you (they) have to be very sure of what they are doing and why because they'll get challenged in very personal ways from other men. Will has 100 stories of really alarming things that have been said to him over the years (remember he's a cabinet maker and is on construction sites a lot, so while I'm not trying to overly categorize, one must consider the source).
He did have one great story of a guy on a job site who said (when Will turned down a trip to McD's) "oh you're vegetarian; you must eat a lot of really great food." Then proceeded to eat his burger. Will said something to the effect of "ya, know, you can eat great food, too." But that touches on a whole different argument.
Vegan female. Married to a vegan male.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling that dairy bears a remarkable resemblance to pus. *shudder*

Yup! Back up to the Woodstock, NY area.....next week! The final touches on my new home are being done as we speak....though I told the realtor and the builder that if the fence for my dogs is not completed as promised ( which was to be done and completed last week)...that I'm holding off the closing until they finish it...not moving into a new house without a fence in place for them (putting in over 3 acres of fencing throughout the woods...takes more then the 3 days he told me it could be done in just this very morning)...duh!.....and I should also have access to the internet the day I arrive up there....but I will be gone for a few days.... between the flying up for the closing....then flying back to GA to meet the movers.....and then the FUN begins: driving my "herd" of dogs on a 960 mile road trip! fun, fun fun!!!! :D
Oh my!!! :o I hope you have help.
Storm posted that a while back. I'll add it.
