I thought a good topic would be to start a thread with cool veg*n quotes.
I know I've heard some great ones.... but I can't think of any right now... hence the need for this thread. :D
And the good Spanish classic:
"Knowledge doesn't take up space." You can learn and learn and still have room for more!
Oh, no! The Spanish have this all wrong! ;)
According to the great authority, Andy Rooney (60 Minutes) as we get older, our brains get full. If we add one thing, something else (we have no control over what - somewhat like an overfull cupboard) will fall out. That's why as we get older we forget so much - it's because we're smarter than everyone else by then! :D
Ezra Pound: "When I consider the behaviour of the dog, I conclude that man is the superior animal. When I consider the behaviour of man--I confess, my friend, I am puzzled."
Not necessarily vegan but favorite quotes of mine that apply to all animals, hairy or not ;)
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined"~Thoreau
"Lift up your eyes upon this day breaking for you. Give birth to the dream" ~Maya Angelou
Another non-vegan quote but one I think is valuable and the more you think about it the more sense it makes:
"Love doesn't mean looking at each other, it means looking together in the same direction."
I love that quote! I put it in my thesis dedication!

That is a beautiful quote. I like.
I don't know if this has been quoted yet, but I just bought a piece of art that says
"Do for others with no desire of returned favor. We should all plant some trees we'll never sit under"
I googled it and its anonymous.
I think its vegan related.....as we all save animals we will never meet (sometimes we do!) or that will never thank us.
The art was not that great, but I couldn't pass up the quote!
I also bought another original clay piece that says "with greatness of a mind there is always compassion" I loved the art and the quote!
"Life is no way to treat an animal.."
-Kurt Vonnegut
6/2007 Quote from Noah, age 6, after seeing some developers tearing down trees on the mountains to build more human homes:
"That hurts the whole mountain, you know. The mountains like the feel of the roots of the trees in them. Its like cutting off the arm of a human-they are connected."
Sniff sniff.....there may be hope for the future after all....... :)
When you walk across the fields with your mind focused, pure and holy, then all the stones, and all the growing things and all the animals, the sparks of their soul come out and cling to you.
- Hasidic saying
"Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."-Ancient Indian Proverb
"All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports."-Chief Seattle
Suburbia- where they cut down trees & name streets after them :(
i'm pulling this back with a twist-- quotes from my awesome roommate!
me: after we go to the co-op, we should really clean the kitchen up
her: what? the kitchen isn't dirty, it's a habitat.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Tell her my kitchen hasn't been cleaned in so long it's a ruddy biosphere
"The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract." Oliver Wendell Holmes
...I can't help but think of prejudiced omnivores...
This is not a quote froom anyone famous - just one of the wisest women I have ever known who lives on a tiny, remote Scottish island - Vi Tulloch
Man's first fault is greed, his second is carelessness and his thrid is lack of courage.
It's applicable to so many situations, including the general public's attitude to animal rearing and slaughter
Said by a non-vegan after eating a high-fiber meal at a vegan family's house:
"With friends like them, who needs enemas?"

Groan. ::)
One of my favorite nvr quotes: "I no doubt deserve my enemies, but I don't believe I deserve my friends." -Walt Whitman
my friends had a painting with the following prominently featured on it:
"You are a guest of nature. Behave."
i like that :)
EDIT: i just googled the quote (shoulda done that first, huh?) and sounds like it's from Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an austrian artist.

"If we do not honour our past, we lose the future. If we destroy our roots, we cannot grow."
