Serious NWZ!! (seriously NVR!)

folks, i am in a major NWZ right now - No Work Zone for the uninformed - as i sit at my desk and try to sustain the final 2 1/2 hours of my work week. A dear friend from California -I haven't seen her in 6 years! - is flying in to visit tonight, and I'm sure that has a heckuva lot to do with my inability to focus!
So i wonder, what do you all do to last through final torturous hours before a weekend, something exciting, etc.? i mean, i KNOW you are all totally focused and never have moments of ADD excitement, right? riiiighht.... :>
I just downloaded an hour long trial game of Pizza Chef. It was fun while it lasted.
1. vegweb
2. play music that I really like (I have mix CDs of different genres on hand)
3. wander around and talk to people about work stuff
4. organize stuff
5. write lists of things I need to do that I'm putting off by not working
It's kind of hard question. I do so many types of things that if I can't focus on one thing I'll do something else. Of course, I'm here on vegweb telling you this. ::)
Telling us about your weekend plans would pass the time. :)

1. obviously i'm on vegweb...doh. kinda bad while at work. oh well.
2. i wish i could play music. i'm easily lost in music and that would be a big help; however, i'm in my office, where i work with three CEOs, and i don't know that they would appreciate me suddenly rockin' out at my desk.
3. just them and me. no need for work talk right now and chit-chat is out of the question.
4. hmm, i'm pretty organized right now. seriously.
5. i'm a complete list-a-holic. it's almost a problem. they are stuffed in my lunch bag, my purse, in the console of my car, stuck to cabinets in my house, on the pages and covers of three or four different notebooks, on my desk, etc. i think i'm all caught up on list making at the moment, despite my severe addiction.
i did peek at merriam webster's word of the day. also reconsidered veganyumyum's mojito cupcakes. but yes, plans...
since i haven't seen this girl in way too long, i know a serious chat-a-thon is about to ensue. i already bought locally brewed beer to represent my muggy state (i know, nothing compares to west coast brews, but what can i do?) while we chat it up on my porch. porch-hanging w/beers will probably take up most of the weekend, to tell the truth!
other stuff:
-beach tomorrow. girl has got to dip her toes into the atlantic! plus the weather is totally awesome here right now.
-maybe at some point, i'll take her to this totally cheesy lounge in town. an older (like age 60s/70s but they both have jet black-dyed hair so it's hard to accurately gauge age) husband and wife perform - she sings (with beehive hairdo and short dress and pantyhose attire) and he plays somewhat off-beat synthy keyboards. all tony bennett, sinatra covers, etc. there's a great mix of old people (seriously, old) who always dress up - men in coats, ladies in dresses - and they dance and drink strong cocktails, while us relatively young'uns sit back and admire. seriuosly strong cocktails. waitresses with high hair and lots of hairspray.
geez, obviously i'm ready to hit up the lounge...
thanks for enduring my blabbing, to those who have!
i'm tutoring my student after work, so i really need to draw back to my center and focus right about 5:15...C'MON WEEKEND!!
hee :D
ps i also just bit my nails, so i'm going to wash an apple and have a snack now.
I love cheesy bars. In college my favorite one was kept together with duct tape. It was closed by the fire department because it was a death trap.
If I was going on a trip to visit a friend, drinking beer on a porch, playing guitar, and then going out for cocktails sounds ideal, truth be told.
(I thought I should mention that I don't drink much. When I go camping with my friends every fall there's a lot of hanging out, drinking, and guitar playing, and it's the best couple of weeks of my year.)

say whaa??? what were the walls made of? i'm trying to get a visual, and it's sort of funny. sounds like an awesome place, though - the kind i'd likely hit up.
the porch will rule. i do drink much but haven't done so with this chica in a while. the conversation will likely spiral out of control. i can't wait.
your camping trip sounds pretty awesome. on the west coast, those are some good times. camping in florida, not so much. a little hot and a crapton of bugs, plus snakes and alligators and stuff. bleh.

sounds like paradise!
cheesy bars that don't try to be cool are the best!
i am sure you are having a good time with your friend right now, yay!
anyway, i just was reading this thinking that i really have not in the longest time (ok, wait, maybe not ever--i'll explain) had what you would call a "weekend"
i was homeschooled as a kid, never got all my school work done despite the fact that it took me all of two minutes to do and would always have my mom and dad making me do things on the weekend.
in junior high and high school i always worked through the weekend and/or had tournaments lasting from EARLY am until late at night.
i just finally graduated college but i have always worked on the weekends and still do. woohoo. i seriously am totally freaking out right now... i don't know what a weekend is! argh!
thank goodness i graduated and can start enjoying weekends!
How'd the weekend go?
Now I have the fridays. I have over an hour left and I can't concentrate. I have birthday plans tonight that are a helleva more exciting than what I'm working on.
