What dont you eat as a vegan?

People have a vision of what vegetarians/vegans are..they think you eat salad all day and throw up at the sight ofmeat? Im unlike most vegans.
Im not a big fan of salad, I dont eat vegan cheese( still freaks me out) and I dont really like juice.
I want to know what dont people eat besides meat and dairy...
I could say the same thing to you about oranges.
LOL i guess everyone has their weird little quirks :)
I just remembered something ... I have tried and tried, but I can't like quinoa. The little tails remind me of worms and it has a weird taste and texture. EEEWWWW. I am a little surprised that there are so many vegans that dislike such a wide array of vegetables.
As for natto ... never heard of it, but the "snot covered soybeans" description pretty much told me all that I need to know. Super EEEWWW!
I do not eat tofu or tempah(sp?). The reason being I feel I can get my protein from less processed foods.

You find fermented foods to be processed foods? Do you drink wine or beer or eat saurkraut, yogurt, or kimchi?
tempeh is actually really easy for digestion and absorption of protein so ive researched. miso is really good and nutritional yeast.
but texture also plays a big role..
tempeh is just so weird for me. even marinated and cut..i just dont like the taste. same with seitan. its way to chewy. tofu is good when firm or in miso soup. that has to be made right so I dont even really make it unless it pre baked.
some veggie proteins are gross.. i dont like morningstar chicken strips and i dont really like gardein( strange after taste).
Seitan has a big range of textures... I find most of the homemade stuff that's simmered is really chewy and stretchy. Not a huge fan of that. But steamed, fried, or mixed with some flour/mashed beans/nooch before cooking can make a big difference. Even pre-made seitan from the HFS is way different than homemade.
Ah, the wonders of bread.
I am a typical vegan.
I love every fruit and vegetable.
I never use to eat fake meats, but lately I have started out of laziness.
I love (homemade) seitan, tempeh, and SOMETIMES tofu - it all depends who makes it/how it's prepared.
I like salad, but only when it's accompanied by a nommy dressing.
I generally stick away from fake cheese, but I did just buy some on sale and am going to make a pizza.
I usually just stick to my nutritional yeast.
I think the only weird thing that people don't seem to understand is that I am overweight.
they generally say, "oh, you must have lost a bunch of weight."
"uhhh... no, not really. I mean, I did lose 60lbs, but not due to being vegan."
my diet changed a lot when I went vegan... I never ate fruits or vegetables for the first 15 years of my life. period.

Wow, Dessie, we might be the same person....

I don't know why I thought they were more processed then that. :-\ I'm more of a fruits/veggies type of person anyway.
I don't eat salad. Not because I am morally oppossed or allergic. I just do not like salads. It is so annoying that everywhere I go out to eat this is all I am offered as a vegetarian option. Seriously, the big chain restaurants need to expand their menus for everyone.
Onions... So gross, I hate even looking at or smelling them. I also don't care for cabbage, brussel sprouts, califlour, or egg plant. Give me any fruit and I will eat it, even prunes.
I loooove prunes. Especially the cherry flavored ones, which I now think I haven't had in months. On the store list they go!
Cherry-flavored prunes? That sounds good. I don't think I've ever seen them. Where do you get them? Are they branded?

I don't remember the name brand, just the package. I'm looking some things up now. Okay, the brand is Sunsweet, and here's an image of their package

I have found them at Wal-Mart and Kroger in the past (so, I would think most general grocery stores in your area would have them).
mmmm, cherry flavored prunes. I will definitely have to try some of those! The only kind I have had are plain prunes which are still really good but then again I can eat a lemon plain and love it, lol.
Garbanzo beans. I hate the texture. Lima beans are a big thumbs down too.

Nooooooooo not GARBANZO BEANS!!! You're officially a crazy person! Garbanzo beans = vegan gold
Lima beans I can agree with you on... sick :P
I don't eat veggie burgers. I can't find a single brand or flavor I'd like to bother eating again. I also don't eat alot of protein replacement per each meal. Like, if before I would eat a turkey sandwhich for lunch, I don't now go eat a tofurkey sandwhich. Veganism changed my whole diet to an extraordinary variety of delicousness so I would also say I don't eat anything bland.
I LOVE tempeh. And soymilk. And salads. My salads usually have four or five different colored fruits and veggies in them because I really like my vegetables.
Have you tried making veggie burgers at home? I had never really liked a packaged burger before (but ate them at cookouts because that's all people can manage to do for vegans--exchange one thing for something that looks exactly like it). Anyway, I never really loved them until I started making my own. There are some fabulous recipes on VW, and I'm going to post them in case you (or anyone else) is interested and haven't found them yet.

Rahr! I hate that! It especially annoys me that in most of these restaurants their salads are topped with meat and cheese. It's like, you can't make ONE item that doesn't have that in it? And when you do, all you can think of is a salad? I just don't go to them anymore. I like my local veggie-type places. I don't like supporting these big chains. Their food is mostly gross anyway.
I stay away from anything that is marketed as fake meat. I occasionally buy veggie round, but then that's nothing like buying unChicken nuggets or Fakin Bacon or something. I'm here looking for something that isn't meat- Why do I want something that's pretending to be it is? And I aviod anything that is artifically flavoured or whatever. Gross. Yes, especially fake grape flavour. And fake bannana flavour. Ewww. I really only buy veggie burgers if I so happen to be at a fast-food place. They're mostly unpleasent. Most get rubbery and nasty. But I DO like veggie burgers. Not saying I don't. Money's garden burger was probably the best frozen version. I'm not crazy on tofu, but when it's prepared in a really good way I like it. I've never tried vegan cheese. I generally stay away from fake foods. That's all I can of right now that I don't like.
I just realized I dislike lima beans.
I had a big bag of frozen veggies - and the lima beans were hard and dry, like little rocks, even though the rest of the veggies were fine....ick!
