NVR - Washing Crocs

Does anyone else have/love/adore Crocs?  I have the Athens flip flops, have probably had them for a year and they're still in great condition.  But DIRTY!  I take them into the shower with me and scrub them with soap but I can't seem to get them clean.  Anyone have any secrets?

I'm glad you brought this up, I have a pair of white/pink flip flop crocs and also cannot get them clean.  :(

they're so ugly, yet so comfy.

I used to have a pair of white flip flops. The only way I could get them clean was bleach and a scrub brush

Does the bleach turn them yellow-ish?  That is my fear with bleach.

Yes.  Isn't that true with most ugly things?  Sigh.

Good idea, I'll give that a try.  Need to find a scrubbing implement that's NOT my toothbrush though!

You should just go buy a cheap-o toothbrush. They are awesome for cleaning shoes.

I love my Crocs too. I have a pair of the Beach model in navy and the Cleo model in aqua. Both pairs are so so comfy. I try to clean mine before they get too gross and really don't know the best method. A word of caution about the dishwasher: online I read that if they go through the drying cycle they shrink so much they will never fit you.

I used baking soda.  It helped quite a bit.  I'm guessing if they weren't white and I'd been scrubbing them all along, it would be great.
thanks Hannah!

i just wanna know how you guys could stand those things, i mean,i have the weirdest taste in things but i still don't understand how those things could be in vogue

Different weird things appeal to the different weird tastes of different weird people.  :D  Consider Ugg boots and even Birkinstocks. Personally, I find spiked heels weird. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.  8)

It's all about comfort, really, as I said before, they're quite ugly in my book.  ;)

Agreed, they are the only flip flops that don't make my back hurt after a while.  In Florida I pretty much wear flip flops exclusively.  I know they're crazy ugly, but they're comfortable and intelligently designed.  And they last forever!

Oh! The "ugly shoes!" I had to Google...I've seen something that looks like them here, but whether they are real Crocs or just pirate knockoffs, I don't know. But don't they make your feet sweat? We get temps in excess of 110ºF sometimes in summer...and I dunno, it just says "sweat and blisters" to me...are they actually made out of plastic?

I don't know what they're made of exactly, but not plastic I don't think?  They're soft and squishy.  They also would (I think) be good in hot sweaty temps because they have anti-bacterial soles.

"sweat and blisters" lol.  :D

There are a few different styles now, too, I prefer the flip-flops to the "classic" beach style that everyone has.

I believe they're rubber.  I've never worn the clogs because I assume they make your feet sweat, but the Athens flip flops are great!  I got them when I was living in Key West.  EVERYONE down there had them because 1.  It's hot  2.  They don't slip (good for restaurant workers)  3.  They float  (good for people who work on the water.  They really are a great product.  I got the impression that something big was created out of something small.

Ah, well, rubber is different, not the same "blister quotient" as plastic in our climate. The next time I walk past "ugly shoes" ;) in a shop window I will stop and have a look.

Not all of them are ugly!  I wear the Sassari model when I'm going out and want to look a little fancy... check out their website and see what all they have!

Just to follow up, I finally remembered to get a cheapo toothbrush and scoured my crocs with baking soda.  Now they're lovely again!  :)  Thanks to all who replied!!
