Say, "Sheese!"

I was excited when I saw Wildwood yogurt at my HFS.  My cashier volunteered that it's a new product because a customer requested it.  I told her they should also carry Sheese and she said if I called a certain manager they'd stock it upon my request.

O, the excitement!

So - y'all have talked in the past about Sheese.  My HFS is likely to want just one variety, so what should I suggest?

I did find these threads (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=16576.0 and http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=15548.0), but I wasn't sure if there was a clear winner.

I just tried one recently I think it was called just soy yogurt co I don't remember exactly. I thought it was awesome. There was so much flavor in it. You ever try that?

I'm going to try to Sheese.

My HFS sells Silk vanilla yogurt in 32 ounce containers.  :)
They have 32 ounce plain, too.

I hadn't looked at the team.  Guy Crichton is a handsome bloke.

Now back to the Sheese!  After reading the reviews I think Smoky Cheddar and Blue are in the greatest favor.  I'm leaning toward Blue, because the store already has lots of cheddar varieties.  Sheese doesn't melt well, but nether does regular blue cheese.  I'm still looking for suggestions, tho'.

Boy did I misread your post. I'm sorry about that HH.

I say try the classic white uncheese recipe that I put up in the nutritional yeast post. It says uncheeses will get soft , melty and gooey when heated and it will brown nicely when broiled (so watch closely).

holy cow. We sell this stuff at the cafe I work at (in concord, nh for anyone in the area) and I absolutely love it. I've heard it melts well too which is incredibly exciting to an ex-mac 'n cheese lover ;)

Awesome!  We have an expert on board.  Which variety is your favorite?  Or which variety is the general patron favorite?

I vote for blue HH!
But that's just because I want to know what you think of it...  ;) for my own selfish purposes.

Seriosuly though, I think blue will be more versatile than smokey cheddar.
You can chop it and put it on salads, veggie burgers and on top of veggies... i'm not sure smokey would go as well that way.

I vote for cheddar...Ive heard it spreads really well on crackers...but then, is there another blue cheese alternative? You want the product thats most divers so a lot of people will buy it and they will decide to buy more flavors...you know?

Same here.  I would love to know what you think of it.  I ashamedly say that blue cheese is a big reason I'm not vegan...it's disgusting, I know.  :(

Where can I locally buy Sheese?

We serve it on a fruit and cracker plate and the ones we put on are the Medium Cheddar (the orange one), the Strong Cheddar or Smoked (depending on what we have more of) and the Gouda. The Gouda NEVER comes back. It's delish on crackers. If you're looking for that kind of cheese (ie. a good snacking one) I would go for the Gouda or the Smoked Cheddar. Personally, I can't eat too much of the smoked at once so I enjoy the Gouda or the Strong on crackers.

My boss has said that the medium cheddar is great on pasta or melted in other dishes and I also enjoy it on crackers and such. The mozzerella I personally think is farther from it's dairy counterpart  than any of the others but it is certainly MUCH closer than other vegan cheese brands out there. ;)

We also sell the wheels of sheese and people buy all kinds. The cheddars seems to sell faster than the other flavors but really we go through a ton of this stuff. Our customers also request it on sandwiches sometimes so I really have to try it like on a veggie burger or something mmmmmmmmm.

Be sure and let us know what you buy and what you do with it! ;D

All of them are cute but Guy Crichton is a giant dreamboat. We should write,"You guys should make a calender of yourselves." :D :D

But seriously is it available in the US?

I would ask them to stock one of these flavors-

the chives
the garlic and herbs
the cheddar spread
the smoked cheddar or the creamy sheese.

yessssss it is. There is a US distributor as of recently (how recently I have nooo idea). I'm not sure where exactly but I know that you can order it. Tomorrow at work I'll ask our boss what the name of the US distributor is. I'm not sure if they only do wholesale or not though. But I know there IS a way you can get it online via a US company because we've had more than one customer get excited about now being able to buy it at our cafe instead of having to pay for shipping and such and they had a US company. I'll do some research for you guys though :)

also a note, my boss informed me that it's not too fabulous melting on its own but under the broiler or in a sauce (she said it works well with a hot liquid but said even something like making bruchetta and having lots of fresh, jucy tomatoes will suffice) works best.
