Vegan Boots & Shoes

I always have the WORST time finding professional, good-looking dress shoes that are vegan. So does my husband. This week we both found shoes we are very happy with.
My husband's shoe is the JUSTIN, available at Mooshoes.com. It comes in brown and black.
My shoe is the "WOMEN'S CHOICE" by LifeStride, available at shoes.com. It comes in dark brown, light brown, and black.
At shoes.com, you can type in "vegetarian" in the search area and get their non-leather shoes. At zappos.com, they have a vegetarian shoes link on the right side of the screen.

In case you check back, I've gotta ask: do they make your feet smell? I sometimes find that shoes made from plasticky, manmade materials make my feet really sweaty and stinky. (Gross, I know)
I think certain materials are very bad about that. I've learned to sort them by feel. But that's not an issue with this shoe.
payless is good for non leather shoes, but so is target. i just purchased 3 pairs of really cute, man-made shoes for under 64.00! they are comfy, cute, and vegan! also try walmart or kmart- i know big box stores, but it may be something you wanna look into.

I just got a Chadwicks catalog (Holiday 2006) & was surprised to see a number of manmade material shoes & boots. They are mixed in with the leather ones so you'll have to read the description to pick them out.
That said, I have never purchased shoes from them so I can't say if they are good. However, Chadwicks has an excellent return policy. They have never refused a return of mine.
I am admittedly a shoe ho.
zappos.com also has a great policy... free shipping/ return and they are fast.
they have a pretty good selection of veggie shoes and esp. boots. i got a faux ugg last year... a little late, but i buy on sale! i love em.
I was wondering if All-Star Chuck Taylor Converse's are vegan. I read the little label on the shoe tongue and it says textile and rubber...but on Cosmos Vegan Shopped, I read about these ones that look EXACTLY like the converse, except they're animal friendly. If they aren't vegan, why? Not that I really wear them alot...I'm not wearing them anymore, until I find out whether they are vegan or not. Thank you....
i am pretty sure that some converse are vegan but some have leather. i think the 'traditional' ones are :)
I called Converse. They don't make you wait at all, which is refreshing. The rubber and canvas are vegan, but they can't guarantee that the glue is vegan.
BTW - I first called and a very disinterested woman immediately replied, "Yes, they're vegan,' in that way where you know they don't know what they're talking about and just want to give you the answer you want to hear. So, I hung up and immediately called back to try and get someone else and the second woman was helpful and found out about the glue for me.
Although rude, she may have be tired of the question (or something like that). Chuckies are the original vegan shoe. Way back when, when there were no other options, that what all the vegans wore. So, wearing them is like a vegan tradition! :)
But they're not vegan if you include the glue.

I do not wear converse. Nike bought out the company and they are now made in sweatshops. Horrible!
OK, that expalins it. I should have guessed Nike was in the picture somewhere. It's like realizing that David sunflower seeds is owned by ConAgra. That was a sad, sad day for me. I miss those seeds.
Hi all! I am looking to purchase some vegan shoes (specifically dress shoes), but I'm having a hard time finding some that are 1) Comfortable, and 2) Stylish. Department stores are pretty much out, since they tend to only carry leather (though I do always look!), and I'm a little weary to buy shoes online because of the whole trying them on for fit factor... And it gets expensive to keep returning & paying for shipping.
I usually buy my shoes from Zappos.com because they have FREE shipping both ways, and their customer service is outstanding. Not to mention, they have literally THOUSANDS of shoes to choose from. However, now that I am buying vegan shoes, I am at a loss... I have found some cute, casual ones, but nothing in terms of dress shoes. Zappos' only offers for vegan dress shoes are, dare I say... Ugly? Plus, when I bought a pair of cute-ish vegan flats (Earth brand), they were VERY uncomfortable. Not because of the negative heel technology thing (those who are familiar with Earth will know what I'm talking about), but because they kept cutting into my heel & ankle, and they never broke in after MANY wearings!
So, I just saw an advertisement in my VegNews magazine for a website called Mooshoes.com, which sells all vegan goods! They have some adorable high heels--FINALLY! Has anyone ever bought from this company? Or, do you know of any others that you have been pleased with?? I need to wear nice, fancy-ish shoes for work (plus, I just love cute shoes...), but I don't want to buy leather! :-\ Help!

I would love to buy vegan shoes, but I have wide feet. I've looked into vegan shoes, but there are very limited options for ppl with big feet, like me! I've been delaying buying new shoes...because I know I'll probably need to buy leather. :P

I have to say - I haven't purchased any shoes since I went vegan. I keep using my old ones - not sure how much longer that will last, lol. Because, frankly, I have looked everywhere in every conceivable vegan shoe place and all of them are .... well, ugly.
I don't understand why they can't make the same type of styles as leather. I mean, just because I'm vegan doesn't mean I wear birkenstocks and have dreads. Which are what most vegan shoes look like. I'm not saying anything is wrong with that syle. It's just not my style of preference.
Mooshoes I've found to be the only exception. But, even then, I can't find anything I'd wear. I love, love, love boots. But, I love them with stilettoes (sp?). Most vegan shoes are not with silettoes. I don't know, maybe they think all vegans like comfort. Whereas I'm more like, forget comfort - let's go for racy and sexy, lol.

I'm in the same boat, OperaChic! Not sure what your style preference is, but I prefer simple, conservative shoes for work so I'm able to purchase mens' styles, which generally run wider. I buy mine from Alternative Outfitters because they have free shipping if you spend $100, and the shoes are low priced. They also tend to include sizing/fit information in the description (e.g., "runs wide", "runs small", etc.) I had to exchange my first 2 pair, and only had to pay to ship them back.
