You are here

I'm mean, and I know that we've all had this conversation before, but...

When you make a post... to the right of the "Post" button, there is a "Preview" button.  To the right of that, there is <gasp> a "Spell Check" button.  Please, please, make an effort to click it!  My inner English teacher begs you!

And, yes, I realize that typos happen, and we all goof up sometimes.  But I am so tired of seeing "werid".

Good cal Tkitty.

It wasn't directed at you, BP.  I think you know who I'm specifically thinking of here.

And I totally agree with you about posts in color.

LMAO. i will try to correct my spelling disasters. i just view vegweb as a place where i can type poorly if i want to cause the rest of my writing is draft after draft after draft of writing and checking and madness.

but it could be worse....

there could be the "all my type is text type" on here...

i c u dnt luv my msgs. r u mad? (i don't text, so one can see the issues of trying to pretend i do)

OMG BP! U R 2 LOL!

i don't really notice misspellings unless the sentence structure is really bad and i can't figure things out... like with many of the student papers i've graded!  ;D ;D  i read this thing once about how when we read we "site" read--we don't look at each letter but it is more of a visual memorization... that if you have the first and last letter right, then it doesn't matter if the others in the word are jumbled. i know there was a thing floating around about it for a while...but i can't find it.

it's ture.

That's all I ask for.  That, and lots of chocolate chip scones.

I really do apologize.
My keyboard sucks and I'm too lazy to spell check,
but this looks right. ^

Mine does too, I get sticky letters or ones that don't show up at all, just ask CYETS... our IM's are chalk-full of typos and I apologize before every chat.  It'd take too much time out of my life to change them all.

*drool* chocolate chip scones from Chicago Diner...
I had a cranberry/orange one as well- much fluffier and mmmm yum.

You're killing me, Meggs!  No more talk about Chicago Diner baked goods.

I hate Joplin.

Oh, stop!!  Nobody needs to apologize!!  I just cringe everytime I see a post by Gotskates using the word "weird".  I just don't understand how she has never noticed that the word is not "werid", and has never thought to spell check.  It bothers me that by - what, 14? 15? - it hasn't occurred to her to check that her spelling is correct.

Wow, is it time for the airing of grievances already?

I'm down...I've got a lot of problems with you people

For the most part  I am a good speller.  My bf and best friend who did much better in school than me, aren't.

I have a friend who is 51 who was identified at a young age as autistic.  She didn't speak to many people until 19yrs of age.  Her spelling and writing skills are very bad but she is a great person.

Perhaps TKITTY96 can point out to gotskates in a constructive way about her spelling mistakes.  Sometimes we don't notice the obvious.

*Funny story*

When I was sending my resumes for a teaching position, I must have checked the cover letter a million times.  To my utter dismay, I found out later I was writing this sentence:

I am looking forward to pursing this position further.

PURSING not PURSUING.   :-\

Ohhhh another.

On an e mail document sent to school district : Are you capable of performing this job?  Please check YES or NO.

I checked NO!!!!! I cried for hours after I sent it. Are you surprised I didn't get a call back for the job?  :D

I laugh now only because  I have a job in a very nice school district.

This came up in a thread long ago and I think it was determined that that's just the way she is. I think she even apologized. It used to bother me, but now I find it rather comforting....its like something you can always count on and is so very characteristically her. I am serious!  I hope I spelled characteristically right!

Just like with SB you can always count on rudeness and sarcasm (I mean that in a good way), with GS you can count on misspellings. With Davedrum you can count on the use of these..... >:( >:(  With Capture you can always count on a picture.
With me you can count on me bragging out my number one in the world son, its just who we are!  ;)
Funny thing is, if you read my profile, one of things I like to do is find things that are misspelled. They jump out at me and I can find them in most anything....grammatical errors too.
I love how Baypuppy spells "vegitarian" and "expiriance". I think its cute!

A LOT of people on here spell "definately" wrong....its "definitely". On this forum it doesn't bother me, although I do notice every misspelling there is.  But it does bother me in brochures, books, and newspapers.

Poor Gotskates.  Posts with misspelled words don't bother me as much as posts criticizing the way others speak.  :-\

Glad to bother someone then.

By the way, I didn't "criticize the way others speak."  I was pointing out that "Spell Check" is a feature that is underutilized.

Guilty as charged.  I make a lot of typos and I don't use spellcheck.

The owner still takes my money.

Sue me.
