What is it with Mothman?

Has a new movie or mockumentary or something come out lately in the US? Even Get Fuzzy mentioned Mothman this morning. He's all over the place all of a sudden.
Not that I have any idea what it is, because I don't. Get me out of the 17th-19th century and I'm a goner.
We talked about it quite extensively in the DVD thread. Probably just being talked about more right now because of Halloween.

^^ Good link. It's got some good info. Yeah, Yabbit, it's a local haunt that was turned into a movie. I personally think the premise of the movie was much more entertaining than the movie itself but whatevs.
NBD. Just some giant moth, wandering around... bein' creepy.
I still haven't watched that movie. I hear its really good, but I also heard that a friend went and slept in the bed with her mom for about three days after watching it because it freaked her out so bad. This, mind you, was a grown woman that did this.

Mothman or Mothman Prophecies? Neither one is even scary!

I don't know what it is about the Mothman that gets everyone so freaked out. Katie doesn't even like to hear us say Mothman! Even when we joke about the hillbilly backwoods version, the Methman.
Ooooh. Have Katie watch Mothman.. I wonder if she'll go around busting mirrors. Maybe even poke her eyes out?
She has pretty much refused to watch it. I'll be viewing it alone. Maybe Otis will come keep me company, but its highly doubtful.

Well like I say, suddenly references to it/him are allll over the Internet. I suppose it's to do with Halloween, but why not some of the more traditional uglies? Maybe because with all those "sexy vampire" films, traditional uglies aren't scary anymore because y'all know them too well.
