4 oz (half of block) tofu - any kind
handful (1/4 cup, to taste) brown sugar
2 large cloves garlic, crushed
vegetable oil
salt, pepper, seasonings of choice.
Place about 1/2 inch of oil in medium heated pan and fry tofu until golden brown. This is very messy because of the water content in tofu! Be careful! Once tofu is fried, pour out excess oil. Put vegan sugar, garlic, and seasonings in with tofu and cook until well coated and vegan sugar is just beginning to become sticky. If you cook it too long, you will begin to have carmel! And that's it - serve over rice, or noodles.
