extra firm tofu, drained and pressed, sliced into 1/2 inch slabs
Italian-style vegan breadcrumbs
canola oil
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
your favorite marinara sauce
Pour oil into frying pan, begin to heat on medium-high.
Mix water and cornstarch in a small bowl. Pour breadcrumbs in a wide, shallow bowl.
Take a tofu slice and dip both sides in the cornstarch water mix, then in the breadcrumbs.
Place in the pan, and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Note: Make sure you are using drained and pressed tofu. If you are using tofu straight from the package, the water inside the tofu will spit and sputter and stick to the pan.
Serve with your favorite marinara sauce, garlic bread, and a side salad.
