1 - 22 ounce can black beans
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons vegan taco seasoning
1/3 cup onion
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon garlic powder (or 3 cloves garlic)
1/4 cup cashews
1/8 cup sunflower seeds
Reserve for later use:
additional 11 ounce can black beans
2 cups panko or bread crumbs
1 cup TVP (textured vegetable protein)
1/4 cup oat bran
4 tablespoons oil
1) Blend first set of ingredients in food processor or blender. In a bowl, mix the remaining ingredients and then stir in the blended bean mixture. Do not try to mix everything in the food processor or the texture will be off.
2) These may stick so oil your pan or use a nonstick pan liner. Drop in large spoonfuls onto baking pan and flatten into patties.
3) Bake at 400 degrees fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Turn over and bake another 10 minutes or until dry and burger-like.
Note: These are a great texture for adding gravy on top. When I was a kid, my mom would make burgers in beef gravy. That's kinda what I was going for here.
Source of recipe: I was playing around in the kitchen, hoping to come up with a good bean burger I could put gravy on, and here it is!
