The Everything Pet Thread

I wanted to start this thread to be all about our pets.  Ask questions, help answer questions, tell a funny story about something your cat/dog/ferret/bird/rat, etc did, update everyone on your pet's health, tell us about a new pet, vent, grieve, laugh, etc.  I know I'll be posting here a lot and I hope you'll join me!

Do you have a more recent picture of Fiona?  I think that woman was bluffing.  Who could take her to the pound?

OMG!  How could a picture like that not steal anyone's heart!?  That's is one of the cutest puppies!!!

Thank you very much!

When we went to pick her up, the woman really didn't seem like the kind who would do something like that, but you just never know about people, I guess. Better not to take chances!  ;)

I do have more recent pictures. It's hard to catch her in some down time because she is constantly running! She has so much energy! When I try to take her picture, it's usually a blur. Here are a few, though, that I've managed to get. Fiona is all grown up!

This one is another baby pic, obviously, but it shows the white tip on her tail, which is so cute :)

We had a dog when I was a kid who looked like the puppy version of your dog, only in adult size.  He had a white tip on his tail, too.  When he was about six months old he was bit on the nose by a rattlesnake so whenever he saw one he'd bark like crazy.  Because of that, my parents had him traipse around with my sister and I as we played outside.  (He was a beagle mix of some kind.)

OH, really!! :) I have no idea what mix Fiona is, I wonder about that all of the time, but I have no way of tracing her history! That's cute about having him traipse around the house with you, it's so comforting to know how safe we can feel with animal companions! On a side note, a woman I know used to have a white German shepherd that lashed out at Hispanics because one abused her as a puppy. URRRRRG :( Yet people try to tell me that animals can't feel pain, that they can't feel scared, that they can't hold grudges.

Just because Little Dog decided that it would be a good idea to chow down on compost tonight. Ha, his face is filthy, and his breath smells... but at least it's vegan, right?

Today my poodle, who is usually deathly afraid of my hermit crabs (he hides in corners behind chairs if i even take the lid off their crabitat) decided to love them, haha, i had them outside and he followed the crabs around for 5 minutes and had no problem with them what-so-ever. Finally they're friends! I'm amazingly excited that i can have the crabs out without scaring the life out of my dog.

I don't know about the rest of the furrable  parents here but my Zippy is the most insecure dog I have ever had.
He suffers from separation anxiety even when I am gone only a few minutes.
Also thinks he has to be sitting next to me 24 hours a day.
Drives me nuts but I agreed to foster him 3 years ago after he was rescued from a cage.
Super watch dog always lets me know when someone is in the driveway.
I do love having him around that is why I kept him instead of placing him with another person.
There is a picture of him floating around here at vw.
Full size Dachshund black and tan coat.

Awe, sounds like a cutie! Chad (my poodle) has seperation issues too, he tackles me when i try to leave and runs out the door with me, and whines and whines when i do (he grew up in a not so nice house so i dont know what really happened there) and if i walk out the door and come back in he acts like he hasnt seen me in days. He barks at any noise or anything he sees in the street, hes an old dog though, i'm guessing 10 or 11 years old? He's still my puppy though!
He has this extreme issue with smoke alarms that i've always wondered about, he goes running with his tail down to me or to the back door if it goes off (due to cooking experiments usually) and it takes him at least 30 minutes to get over it, i dont know if its just the piercing noise or perhaps he was in a fire or something or other happened involving a smoke detector before..hmm.. ???

My kitty is a really dependent animal, too! He meows constantly, like he's just having the most serious and important conversation with you and he fully expects you to understand and take action!

;D

He doesn't seem to mind too much when we leave, but as soon as I get home he wants my full, 100% undivided attention. He follows me into every room, he'll stick his paws under the bathroom door if I close it, and heaven forbid I walk into the kitchen at any time day or night.

Anyway, I was checking this thread because I just noticed this evening that poor Pouncival has worms. We've had him for just about a month and a half, and my boyfriend told me tonight that he thought he'd noticed something on Pounce's tail a few days after we got him, but then figured it was just lint or something.

Ugh. Why am I the only attentive one around here? Okay, so I'm obsessive compulsive, but this time it served me well! Actually, the bf saying that has made me feel a little better. I was worrying my head off trying to figure out how my indoor cat got worms with no other pets in the apartment, but now it sounds like he may have gotten them when he was in foster care with lots of other cats and just wasn't showing much in the way of symptoms. So, I don't feel like such a terrible mother... but I'm still a little freaked out.

Those worms are gross.

I just moved in a house where there are two cats. One is antisocial and the other one seems to be asking, who the hell are you, and can I come sleep on your bed? They look so the same, I can barely tell them apart. That is my contribution to the everything pet thread.

I can't believe the cashier at the pet store questioned me to as why I would buy vegetarian food for my dog.
Not is in a positive way but a way implying I am a bad pet parent for doing this to my dog.
Mentioned I normally give him vegan food just I forgot to order his food before it got low so I had no choice.
Learning how to make his dry food now so I will never have to buy it again.
Found a few good sites that have guided me in the right direction.

Anyway to answer the question of a vegetarian pet.
When I make dinner the dog has what I ever I make as long as not spicy.
Then he has his dry food to balance everything out.
Since I am vegan then Zippy is vegan also.
Rated top shape by the vet when I took him for his physical this summer.

Honestly, Joe, I would have complained to a manager-- the customer is always right, so cashiers-- stfu! Not to mention, if the store carries it, the clerk should not be knocking the product, much less questioning your decision to buy this product.

So, we have realized my dog finds ways onto the dining room table and kitchen counters daily and explores (claw marks on boxes, containers knocked over and such). My brother had an idea, why not put flour on the table and counter and see if we can find doggie paw prints throughout where he goes. Came home today, hahahaha, it looked like our house had been dusted for dog robbers or something. Paw prints on the keyboard even, making me realize why my friends get mysterious random IMs when no one is home. We read about it, apparently dogs do this when bored, not even for food! Hah, i swear, he must have been raised by cats.
