Ahoy folks! I thought I'd start a thread where you can ask for recipes and advice on how to use up an ingredient (e.g. a vegetable, fruit, grain, bean, etc.) of which you have lots and lots and lots; or which is new to you and you don't know where to start with it.
I'll go first. :P I have many, many tasty carrots from the farmers' market which I need to use before they go soft.
Recipes, please.
I know, I know, carrots - simple - should be a no-brainer... but I was not fond of them for a long time, simply because I'd never known anything but raw or steamed carrots with very little flavour. I like to do INTERESTING things with them. They're so adaptable! Gimme your adaptations! :D
Yabbit, shame on you! ALOO GOBHI!
Oh, crumbs *hides head in shame*

Thanks, homespice. I hide because Base knows I created an aloo ghobi recipe for VW and I should have thunk of it first. (ETA, actually it's palak ghobi, but yeah. Duh.)
Whatever it was, make that shitz
yeth, mathtah.... ;D
I have most of a tub of tofutti sour cream because I thought I needed it for a recipe, but I don't. It's open so I have to get to using it, but aside from using it on baked potatoes what do you do with sour cream?
You could make a vegan ranch dip or chip dip using the Toffutti sour cream.
I used to make a spinach dip using Tofutti Sour Cream that was pretty good. I am not at home right now to get the recipe, but if you are interested, I will send it to you later.
Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, sour cream sauce, sour cream cake, chili
Sour cream cake. For real.

Use it to top soup such as homemade tomato, beet soup, etc. Put a dollop on top and mix it in at the table.
ya how can you not use the "sour cream"?! stuff is magical... i have a spinach dip i posted on here you need to try asap!
Yeah, I agree that it's a weird thing to need recommendations on how to use it up. I rarely buy the stuff, and it always go fairly quickly!

Soak in hot water or tea to rehydrate and add to bread. Can also be used in chilli such as Ungreen's.

Huh? What is "Ungreen's"
Ungreen the Vegwebber that was, Tweety. Her Ennui Chili. I have put wheatberries in it with good results:

I miss her posts and recipe reviews.
Gotcha!
A friend at work gave me some lemon thyme. I never even knew it existed. Anyone ever use it in anything? I was thinking about making a soup with some of it or something like that.

It's really good in a bruschetta. Any Italian roasted vegetable, really. Olive oil, garlic, lemon thyme, salt, pepper, balsamic. Haven't used it myself, but that's what I've had it in.
It's also good for a cold or sore throat, as an infusion, but do NOT drink more than 2 cups in a day.
