Pubes.

Let's talk about how everyone grooms their pubes.

I really can't stand having any pubic hair.  I shave mine, but I do love a good wax.  I would get waxed all the time if I didn't have to pay for it and didn't have to wait for the regrowth.  The woman I go to uses some awesome kind of wax for sensitive skin and it barely hurts.  She's awesome.  I always go for the full brazilian.  In the mean time I just shave.

Regarding partners, my current partner shaves as well (just by coincidence) and I don't think I could go back from this.  Makes things so much more pleasant.

Speak on it!

Also of note:

I think my biggest problem with shaving pubic hair is the double standard, and the gender norms that that reinforces.

See, there's nothing inherently "wrong" with shaving; it's akin to wearing makeup, or jewelry for that matter. No, it isn't natural, but it's one of many ways to decorate the body.

What's unfortunate is that there are certain types of makeup and accessories assigned for women, and then there are a few limited options for men... Guys can wear certain body jewelry and maybe even get away with "guyliner," but if they're wearing the same things marketed to women, there's something "wrong" with that according to most of society.

Similarly, body hair styles have assigned gender..... but it's even weirder than fashion assignments because body hair is freakin' natural!

In most places in the U.S., a woman with hairy legs and armpits is looked down upon, assumed to be a "dyke," or even assumed to be a guy in drag. A guy with hair in those places is perfectly normal. When I was with "Sanvean"--who shall be henceforth known as "That Asshole"--he made me shave my legs and pubic area because he said he couldn't make love to me with all that hair. "If I wanted to fuck a man, I'd fuck a man."  >:( ::)

So I figure, if You want to shave or trim Your body hair for Your own preferences (there was a time when I preferred my legs to be smooth), go for it.... just don't expect one's sex or gender to assign a person to a body hair style, because it's simply not fair.

My good friends bf, said something to this degree as well.  He said, "i just cant get turned knowing that its hairy down there"  I was pretty upset that he would say this, he wasnt completely shaved so why did she have to be.  None the less, the gets Brazilians now.

i agree cw, if you want to do it for your personal reason then thats cool, anything done because of your personal reasons is fine, once you begin to do it for another person I think perhaps, that isnt always the right motivation...especially if you prefer to not do it yet concede because of the other.

CW, I had almost the exact experience the other way around w/ my abusive ex....he demanded I remained hairy, as well as sans deodorant. Regardless of my comfort levels. He would literally start raving at me if I washed too much of it off, and forget it if he smelled deodorant on me.

Is it a tub/shower, or just a shower?

Just a shower. Gotta sit on the floor to shave. Meh. ::)

oh man, CW, that is so awful.

i don't think there seems to be much of a double standard on this board. it seems that most people who like to shave also like their partners to. but in general, yeah, there is a double standard.

i dunno, i just prefer the aesthetics of non-shaved on both sexes. but i like a lot of different non-groomed hairs like facial and head.. etc.

i especially like when women have leg and armpit hair.. dunno why.

If I didn't have pubes growing inches below where they typically end, going down my inner thighs, I wouldn't be so self conscious about it. Because of this, I get hot/sweaty down there, and am more prone to fungal infections. Then again, if I didn't trim my bush, my panties would be over an inch away from my body (no, I am not exaggerating, I have measured it. My hair just likes to grow.

When it comes to partners, I don't really care. As long as they're doing it from themselves, and not due to a fucked up trip on psychedelics, I'm not concerned.

awful indeed. But as hanashi pointed out, it can go both ways. Controlling partners are just bad news all around.

but yeah, I'm totally with You on the hair aesthetic.
it's not to say that short hair and shaved faces are necessarily unattractive to me, but goddamn, I loves me some hair. and righteous beards and moustaches.

now, for an example of body hair on women that I particularly like, there's a totally NSFW but totally wonderful site called "hippie goddess." My favourite models include Ariel, Astarte, Daphne, and Skye.

Ha, that sounds like me.  I don't know when it happened but over the past few years I have noticed my bikini line getting bigger and bigger and bigger.  It now reaches halfway down my thighs on the inside.  I hate it and find it really embarrassing for some reason.
I told my sister about it once and she was like, it's not gonna be that bad and then when I showed her, she couldn't believe my bikini line really, really did go halfway down my leg!!

N trims his pubes, and chest hair and armpit hair and I like that.  He's not particularly hairy, but it freaks me out when his nipple hair gets long enough to plait!  ;D
I was once gonna try to shave a superman symbol in his chest hair, and can't remember what stopped me.

HH, some women wear a pantyliner in a thong, just wear old panties just in case wax gets on them

Another novice question.  So people wear thongs during the wax?  I thought they'd go commando.

you can go commando if you want everything gone, but on alot of women I just have them pull their undewear over to the side.  We also provide disposible thongs for people that want to wear them

You're a wealth of pube information.

I shave 100%.
Heck, sometimes I shave my legs.

I keep my legs and armpits shaved, because I just don't like it. Armpit hair disturbs me on some weird level, and I just like my legs smooth.

That picture made me LOL.

Have you ever waxed a mans pubes / rear pubes? Or like, had male customers come in and ask for such?

I like to keep mine trimed and groomed to about 1/4"-1/2" in the winter (keeps her toasty warm on long hikes). I usually shave in the summer, unless I get lazy. I don't like when it gets super bushy on me or my partner, it seems to make sex more difficult for whatever reason.

Sooo I got my first bikini  wax today :D

It turned out great! There were a few stray hairs that the wax didn't pick up but I plucked those when I got home, even though I've heard the person doing the waxing usually does that... It didn't hurt horribly, although it stung a little obviously. I took an ibuprofen beforehand. The worst part was actually on top, which I was surprised by, I thought the sides would hurt more- like the upper inner thigh area. It's a little red and bumpy but she said that should go away by tomorrow :D

Now to work up the courage for a brazilian... lol

lol, fufu!  Let's see if your hubby comes in here.

I don't think it's really a big deal for partners to have different expectations of the other person's acceptable hair level.  Everyone's preferences are different.  If you don't like that person's hair habits, then don't choose that person!  I wouldn't choose someone who is poorly groomed because I don't like the sensation.  It's unappealing to me.  I'd feel like I was trying to kiss/touch that person through a sheet or something.  But anyway, I feel comfortable saying that I shave because I know my partner likes it!  I'm happy to do it.  All part of being good, giving, and game.

I guess my man is pretty metro (though I hesitate to use that word because he's not really that high maintenance) because he has been known to shave almost ALL his body hair, plus get his eyebrows done.  We probably do equal maintenance, all told.  It's nice.  It's easy to see why men are often stereotyped to prefer less hairy women--I bet if more men groomed themselves likewise, women would start preferring it as well.  They just haven't really had a chance!  I like the feeling that my partner is putting extra effort into his appearance.  It's the same feeling as getting dressed up myself.  Besides, pube shaving takes all of maybe 60 seconds to maintain in the shower.  Easy peasy.

on the other hand, if more men starting shaving/waxing like women do, they might have less of a preference for women to do the same... out of compassion. ;)
