Roll Call!

Edit.  The following intro is a bit old.  I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years.  Just couldn't be worked out.  I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now.  I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!!  Woot!

Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous!  I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

I deleted my Myspace page.  I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name.  Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.

Edit #3 - Finally went vegan.  The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners.  I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets.  I'm loving it!  Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore.  LOL  I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate.  I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.

Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor.  I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job.  w00t

It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself.  I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years????  But I don't know a lot of you.

I am a nurse.  I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".)  I am gay.  I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.

I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.

I have a very boring blog here:  http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13

You're turn.  Tell me your business!

I used to run a vegan restaurant many years ago and taught classes in vegan cooking. This site is a great help in directing people who are beginning in the vegan lifestyle and those who wish to try some recipes. thanks and keep up the good work.

want to become my  new best housemaid friend?  ;) I don't like cooking at all...

Hi, my name is Elizabeth, 28 yrs old and living in Kansas. I am new to this site and really excited to meet and talk with vegetarians. I have just been vegetarian for about a year but it was a very easy transition for me because I was never much of a meat eater. In the past few months I have been trying to eat a vegan diet and cut back on sugar and simple carbs. It has been easy for me to substitute soy milk in my cereal, but I struggle with cheese and every once in awhile give in. I am very sensitive to certain foods especially sugar and dairy which give me migraines so I find when I eat raw veggies I feel so much lighter and energetic. But I constantly crave the heavier foods.
I love art, design, music and my dog Toto :)>>> and I have been blogging a lot at http://riceandpeace.wordpress.com
I joined this site to meet new like minded people and for support in this diet change. I am presently surrounded by meat eaters only and it makes choosing vegan pretty tough.

riceatarian:  I'm in Tonganoxie, near Lawrence, I go to lawrence about 2 times per week but the only vegan place I see there is the Casbah (I hope it lasts) I love their Rice and Peas dish with the jerk tofu. Have you ever had it? I named my blog after it (but inserted Peace) because that dish makes me feel very stable and peaceful. What about in Manhattan? Are there any vegan places?

Yeah that sucks because I can tell you it really does beat Chipotle. I added you as a buddy. I hope that's okay.

Hello hello hello everyone!
I'm brand spankin new to the forums but have been a vegweb addict for a lonngg time! Excited to meet everyone!

I'm a 24 year old dude from Syracuse, NY. I play in a touring band called Honor Bright. I'm vegan and also straightedge (don't drink or do any drugs). I love music of all kinds, and am completely in love with movies. I have a girlfriend who I've been dating for a month (wow! haha) and she's pretty freakin' amazing. Right now I work at a reverse mortgage company and am an administrative assistant, but that's not my true career. When I'm not playing music, I'm studying for my massage therapy exam which is in January. CAN'T WAIT!

Looking forward to some fun conversations with you all!
xoxo

HAH katamari!

my old roommates had the 2nd one. we used to try and guess what the lyrics were. One of our best ones was "i can make a dream for you and me, i can see the world for all foofy love" or something to that effect.

Nice interpretation. It's better than my "poopy love".

Yep, I am pretty much a lurker on this site.  That being said, I wanted to finally introduce myself (hi, I am Hugh) and to thank you all.
This forum and your posts have made my transition to a vegan lifestyle so much easier and enjoyable.  I work fulltime at a chocolate factory (sounds much cooler than it really is) and attend massage school.  Between work and school, I don’t have much “free” time and reading your posts has been a great way for me to learn and feel a part of a wonderful community.
Thank you all!

Hey Hugh! You should start posting with us.  :)

I know of at least 2 people (on VegWeb) who live in Boulder, and I'm in Missoula, MT.

Hi Everyone! My name is Siobhan (pronounced nothing like it is spelled...the easiest way to say it is Sha-Vawn). I am relatively new to the vegetarian lifestyle. I've tried it in the past, but it never stuck - probably due to not supplementing my diet with protein/not really having much support from anyone. Well, enough is enough and I'm sticking to it. I was drawn to this site because it has sooooo many recipes that appear delicious. I can't wait to try them all!

My boyfriend and I live with our two beautiful dogs in a lovely house not to far from the Jersey Shore. We had an amazing garden this year and really made some changes in our life that will positively effect our lives and the world around us.

Hi, I'm new to this too.  My husband and I (mostly me) have been switching to ovo/lacto for health reasons.  He is still struggling, I on the other hand feel better than I have in years.

Hi All!

My name is Kelli. I'm a 53 year old single, never married female. I first logged on to VegWeb about 1 1/2 years ago for health reasons.

I grew up as an Army brat & an Iowa farm Kid. When my Dad retired from the Army, We bought a farm in Iowa. As an Army brat, I lived in all but 7 states of the US.  No matter where we went, Mom always had us plant a  veggie garden.  When we moved to the farm, planting a vegetable garden was not a new thing for us. However, the size of the garden was, at least, quadrupled. And some things were totally new -- like BUTCHERING. We raised & butchered our own chickens, ducks & geese. We also helped the neighbors butcher their cattle, hogs & sheep in exchange for a share of the meat. The first time I had to help with butchering I puked & puked & puked. I never really got iver it. But  being a vegetarian wasn't an option at the time (1968) or in my home (You'll eat what's put in front of you or you can starve). Besides I didn't even know vegetarianism existed back then.

I enjoy listening to Native American, folk, bluegrass & some classical music. I also enjoy playing several instruments: piano, concertin, soprano & alto recorder.

Some of my other hobbies included: camping, hiking, geocaching, knitting, crochet, playing chess & trying new recipes. Many of my camping menus had meat as a mainstay. This site made the challenge of finding a vegetarian replacements much easier. My culinary repertoire has been greatly enhanced.
