Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
buddadragon, what was your username all those moons ago?
Hi, hiker!
My user name was buddadragon. :D Tweety, Slynny, and I started the "Hamsters", an excercise and support group. It's still running on two other boards.
Greetings all!
I'm a 23 year old woman. I graduated with a BA in English and a minor in Philosophy in December of 2007 and am finally feeling like I have a sense of what I want to do with my life. I've always been passionate about animals, their rights and welfare so, I hope to turn that into a career path.
I went vegetarian for about a year and a half while in college, but I let others opinions get the best of me and started eating meat/chicken etc on occasion again and guess what--I gained 20 lbs (no one believes me but it's true) and have felt horrible since.
Now I'm back on the vegan track and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm trying to make time for more volunteering at my local shelter while finding/applying to Animal Rights jobs all over the country so we'll see how that goes.
I have two beautiful cats at my apartment as well as two that live with my family and I couldn't love them more.
Hope everyone is doing well!
May I ask what types of animal rights jobs, coffeecat?
Sure Ally,
I'm hoping to do something along the lines of writing to promote animal welfare/rights, work with shelters, support both local and national issues to help improve the animals (and their human's if that's the case) quality of life.
When I interned at a local shelter I was abel to write their entire summer newsletter, did a ton of PR, Marketing, worked on fundraising and awareness projects.
As much as I'd love to do something writing based, I'm more than happy working directly with animals (caring for them) and doing the writing part on my own. Sadly, there aren't many opportunities locally for full time work (aside from volunteering :) ) so I"m keeping my options open. For the right job, I'm willing to go anywhere.
Hi, cc. How do you feel about blueberries?

I tried to vote on the fruit, but failed somehow.
Hi Siobhan! Where in New Jersey are you? Your profile makes it sound like you are near the Double Trouble State Park- That's in Ocean COunty right? not TOO far from me! I live in Medford, which is in Burlington County
Hi all,
I'm a VW newbie... I've been a vegetarian almost half of my life and I'm looking for new, creative, and easy ways to broaden my cooking horizons... I have found so many recipes here!
Nice to meet you all!

I literally live right down the street from Double Trouble State Park. Since we moved here last March we've only been down there once. It was really nice, a lot of cranberry bogs and such. We've been meaning to get back down there but we've been caught up in so many other activities.
I love your name, Siobhan! If I ever had a girl, I'd name her that. It's always been one of my favorite names.

Thanks! I'm pretty partial to it myself. What name do you have for boys then?

I don't even know. I don't plan on having kids any time soon. It would have to be something equally awesome.

Hello all!
I've been lurking VW for a few months now. (My boyfriend got me hooked) So, I finally decided to make a profile and join you guys!
I'm 19 from Utica,NY (right smack dab in the middle of NY.) I've been Vegetarian for only 2 months now. But it was probably one of the best decisions I've made. Eventually down the line I plan to become full Vegan, but that may take some time. I've made about 4 recipes from VW and loved em.
Can't wait to see what else I can find.
Hope you all are doing well!
Hey. I'm new to this site & to being a vegetarian (6 months). I live in Florida with my boyfriend & our many, many pets. That's all I got today. :P
Welcome. I went from omni to vegan. This site made it really easy. That, and there are so many analogs out there that it's easy to satisfy an omni craving vegan style.
