Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
Welcome to you, Naga Jolokia addict, from a fellow chilehead. I grow your name's sake in my garden.
storm,
where are you placed? We have a very strong community of Bangladeshi people who are avid Naga Morich fans. I get my fix of NJ from them and some Bangladeshi friends here in Detroit.
But bulk of my needs come from Canada. I consume about three pounds per year.(Is that a lot of Naga?)
Let us exchange our notes about chillies in days to come.
In the meanwhile, you may visit my blog devoted to Naga Jolokia,

More in days to come.
Naga Jolokia Addict
storm,
Ok you are in Florida. Just read your profile.
Pl gimme a brief story of your attempts at growing Naga in your garden.
NJA
NJA,
This is my second year growing Nagas and they actually do quite well here. I've had very nice yields and they appear to be more resistant to blight than some of the other peppers I grow. It gets so humid here in the summer and blights and molds become a problem sometimes.
I just seeded a few more Naga Jolokias and some Bhut Jolokias over the weekend (this is my first attempt at growing Bhuts). I've heard some people say that they are actually the same pepper and others claim they are different strains. Perhaps you could clarify for me. I've been growing hot peppers for over 20 years, but Indian peppers are relatively new to me. I'd love to hear about more varieties.
I should probably clarify that my garden is actually a container garden because my soil is basically all sand. I grow them in 10 gallon nursery pots on my patio and they generally get about 1 meter tall. I imagine they might grow larger if I could put them in the ground.
Now I'm going to go and visit your blog!
Cheers,
Storm
storm,
Naga Jolokia, Naga Morich, Raja Morich, Bhut Jolokia , Bih Jolokia are all one and the same . There is no difference. There are seven small states in North Eastern India known as seven sisters. And each state has the name of the same Naga which is different .
But "What is there In a Name?"
I am on trail of a relatively unknown "U-Morok".
This chili pepper grows in Manipur which is a state in seven sisters . This chilli pepper is as hot as Naga but has slight difference in fruit colour .
I will get back to you with more info once I get it.
I envy your weather as you can grow peppers throughout the year.
Welcome to my blog.(It is still in its infancy)
Naga Jolokia Addict
NJA,
Thank you so much for explaining about the different names. I've seen people get in arguments over whether they are the same or not and it is nice to finally know. So I guess that means that over the weekend I seeded more Naga Jolokias and more Naga Jolokias! I'm good with that. Have you ever checked out www.gardenweb.com ? They have a number of forums, including a chile forum that I visit quite a bit.
I loved your variation of Volcano Woman!
Cheers,
Storm
storm,
Am glad to receive your kudos. Yes, I really loved Volcano woman song because it showed the same character
that Naga Jolokia/Naga Morich has. I was drawn to Naga not because of heat only. The devilish orangish red colour drew me to it like
a magnet. And ever since I saw and tasted it, I fell hook line and sinker in love with Naga.
Hope you get a ton of Naga next season so that we can feast on the produce.
NJA.
I'm Back
Hello again, everyone! I haven't visited this website since sometime last December, but I'm back again! And I hope to spend more time being active within this community and making new friends. C:
Hello, All!
I've been a lurker on Vegweb for some time, and finally decided to join "the cool kids". I'm a married woman and 33 years old (born in the year of the rabbit ^-^) I am currently not vegetarian. I was before I moved overseas (China), and am trying to get back into it, but the language barrier (I do speak Chinese, just not fluent yet), and just general unfamiliarity with life over here is making it difficult.
Wow - I can imagine how hard it would be to speak a different language (and not fluently!) and try to get things veggie! Well, veggie, maybe. But vegan? Woah. My dh spent a month in China (Beijing and surroundings) and said he ate things Americans would absolutely consider pets, as well as things that were truly unidentifiable. And he's an ecologist! An entomologist! I shudder to think...
I also lurked for over a year before deciding to commit to truly veggie - I'm ovo-veggie for the moment. We'll see how that goes in the future. Eggs are the one thing w/out a face that is truly animal that I can stomach, but...
Anyone out there a veg/veg*an in an omnivorous family, wanna chat about that? I've been having some processing 'issues' about that recently...(and don't want to pay for a pshrink!)
ciao! andy
Hi all, I've loved this website for over a year -- the forums (missed them when they were gone), the RECIPES!!, the people. Thought I'd introduce myself briefly. Mom of a 14 yr old - veg - for 10 yrs or so - by - choice daughter, mostly veg*n myself. Work hard, support myself, love the debates/thoughts/challenges presented here. Try to live frugally, try to have tons of fun, loving life. If you don't see much of me here, it's not because I lack a voice, it's because I am not as articulate as most people on here, and because I enjoy reading and thinking about what I read. You guys are awesome. : )
Yay Vtenney! Sounds like you are living a really conscious life, and that is awesome! ;)b
I was a passer by and decided to join the other day.
Try and follow a vegan diet. Vegan lifestyle I am phasing myself into that slowly. Been a vegetarian most of my adult life. Fell into I have no idea what for a few years and my health went down hill. Got myself back on track over a year ago and now I am back to where I should be.
My fur companion Zippy is 5 and has been with me for 3 years. He is also a vegetarian or flexotarian since I catch him eating a rabbit once or twice a year. He is converting to veganism also. Actually he is more vegan than me.
Processed food free for 1 year.
I live in NE PA and not really happy here. Originally from the DC area.
Hey, I'm Jonathan. I'm a long time VegWeb user but just started using the forums today. I have lurked here before though. :) Check out my profile if you want to know more about me.
Let me see!!!!
I'm Zibiso, living on the eastern part of the Atlantic, right now in Cape Town SA, i became vegetarian in 2006 (when ever i say "i" it feels like 'i'm talking about someone i dont know:) does that make sense, so i often feel that to know someone u've got to hear them talk, watch them walk, see them smile, but in self discriptions we only manage to say little :)
I've been living single for almost all the time, fortunately!! not to say the opposite is unfortunate but meaning, in all states we find ourselves thats where we should perhaps be :) ... when there was someone, thats the time i become vegetarian and subsequently vegan and our ideas on peace and behaviour become irreconcillable.. (for instance, i even had compassion to see saddam hang, but she didn't) (i hope thats not being judgemental, is it?!
I'm studying now, accounting, and have interests too in philosophy, astrology and classical music, weel with music i guess i'm more spontaneous depending on the state of mind... u can imagine what its like being vegan in my place, makes it so few of us... i've recently got in touch with some local animal groups and they are mostly vegetarian and so this is a great go for a "sangha"
Hello all!
I'm Sherri. Still kinda new to this site. Have been browsing the recipes for awhile now, only just starting to check out the forums. Have to say what a great site it is. ;)b
Been a veggie for ages, just went vegan last April so doing lots of experimenting of recipes and reading on the vegan lifestyle whenever I'm not buried in my accounting books!!
Looking forward to getting to know everyone! :)

Hello all :)
Carrot_wench pointed me over to the forums here. I've used VegWeb for the recipes for a long time, but I'd never checked out the forums. My name is Hilary, I'm 20 years old & from Ontario, Canada. I've been a lacto-ovo vegetarian since I was around 15. I can't say exactly when I started, because cutting all animals out of my diet was a gradual process, over a year or two... There's so many awesome recipes on this site that I'm pretty sure I'll go vegan eventually. No excuse not to really, when there's so many delicious vegan things to make, hehe ;D
Anywho, just wanted to poke my nose in and introduce myself. Nice to meet you all!
:)>>>
Welcome aboard Rejectstar!
:)
well helloo-ooo, Hilary...so nice to see You around the boards!
Like I mentioned before, all of the boards are worth checking out...the Food & Cooking board is especially helpful for getting advice and ideas for making, locating, and adapting recipes for vegan yummies, including restaurant tips and cookbook discussion. News & Debate, well, that's pretty self-explanatory...but there are SO many good vegan and not-vegan-related discussions there! The Events board helps us all find cool veg*n meet-ups, potlucks, and other veg-friendly happenings in our respective locations.
and of course, the ever-popular Chit Chat board....oh, gawds...TOO much fun. This place is like crack for me.
...I know that there are quite a few VWers in Canada...Ontario natives include laurabs, a frequent board poster and total sweetheart, and susurrus, who's fairly new but has already gained quite a bit of popularity, especially amongst the ladyfolk of the boards... ^-^
Anyway, welcome! I think You'll like it here!
Hello all!
I've been lurking VW for a few months now. (My boyfriend got me hooked) So, I finally decided to make a profile and join you guys!
I'm 19 from Utica,NY (right smack dab in the middle of NY.) I've been Vegetarian for only 2 months now. But it was probably one of the best decisions I've made. Eventually down the line I plan to become full Vegan, but that may take some time. I've made about 4 recipes from VW and loved em.
Can't wait to see what else I can find.
Hope you all are doing well!
Your tattoo looks AWESOME
COOOOOOOOOL! Vegweb! Yay... I totally just googled "vegan recipes" and found this site. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
As for myself, I am 25, male, my name is Sam. I spend my time composing music, exploring this amazing thing we call existence and looking for my "one and only" LOL! I used to be in a band with the youngest brother of home improvement Terran Noan Smith, who ended up doing a lot of psychadelics and buying some taco trucks out in Los Angeles. He then converted them to vegan "playfood" trucks and we would do mushrooms and go feed people cashew nut butter based vegan fast food at raves and such. Took me some time but I'm mostly vegan, with the exception being when I'm freegan if you know what I mean.
Well, life is grand and I'm super happy to be here :)!!! If you want to be my friend clicky myspace and I will sing for you.
May you all find what you seek! I love you!
