Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
Hello Kamomilla and welcome!
Thanks :)
Hello, VegWeb!!
I've been away for a very long time. I think I joined vegweb (when it was veggies unite) back in, um, 1998? 1999? something like that. Whenever I first went vegan. I still lurk occasionally, so I just wanted to pop in and say hello!

You've come to the right place! I'm not really the person to ask about health stuff but I know there are tons of knowledgeable and super friendly people on here. I hope you make the decision to go veg and love it as much as we do!
Hey guys. I became a vegetarian in March '07 (coming up on the two-year mark!) and I've been using vegweb for ideas on what to cook ever since. Funny how Google pops up with this site so much when you're looking for veg recipes, huh?
I'm addicted to food porn, so that little picture-link feature in the left-hand margin has put me through endless recipe browsing cycles. It's fun to see the uberpopular recipes over and over again, with different pictures spaced with new, interesting and lesser-known recipes that look too good not to try. Click, click, click. I could do this all day. (Right now I see a bowl of "Three Bean Beer Chili" that I would SO scarf up in a heartbeat, omg.)
Anyway, I figured I'd finally pop my head in and say hello. I'm a huge nerd, I love to cook, and I have my own vegan blog that I post recipes to when I'm not being lazy. If you wanna look, you can go visit. I like to share what I cook. http://astrani.blogspot.com/
I just signed up here i was looking for fundraising ideas and it brought me to this site but i love it
I am a girl. I live in Bolivia in south america. I go to an american international school. Welcome Raetillery, glad to hear that there are vegetarians in Bolivia.
It sounds like you've had a rough time; I'm glad things are looking up. Best of luck to you.
Hi Astrani, welcome. Happy veg-anniversary. I'm off to check out your blog.
Hiyaa! 8-)
My name is Tiv, I'm 18 (um, 19 in two days...!!) and I live in New Zealand!
I've been a vegetarian for probably less than a year, though had been trying to stop eating meat for ages before that. Once I decided that I was just going to CUT IT OUT it became really easy, and it feels so good, I love food and cooking about a hundred times more now.
I study fashion design, and that's really cool, I'm going to have so much fun making myself awesome clothes! Yay. I'm pretty glad there is another vegetarian in my class, me and him sit there chatting about our favourite foods, while the rest of the class give us funny looks. My tutor asked me what tofu tastes like, I hope I've convinced her to try it!!
I should probably sshhh now. But I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

Welcome to VegWeb!! I'm also a Kiwi. ;) In which part of NZ are you? I'm in Christchurch (well, just outside).
Well done on becoming vegetarian - it's not easy in NZ. The amount of peeps who rave about 'NZ cuisine', which is so full of animal products, drives me nuts. It's great to break away from that. ;)b Keep thinking outside the box.
Oooh....I just noticed this thread!
I'm Hoya, early twenties and blissfully married, and once made a vow to never, ever, EVER cook and marry a man that would love to cook instead.
So I married a man that loves to cook. And he introduced me to the world of gardening.
Which seduced me into the magical world of vegetables and lured me out of my picky-two-year-old eating habits.
Which also got me learning about health.
Which got me learning about nutrition. ((I still don't know much, just vitamins and such. Unfortunately, I still don't know what vitamins come from which food!))
Which got me interested in COOKING. Of all things!
So in the interest of cutting out meats and going vegetarian....I stumbled upon this site.
And my husband came home one day to find me.....*gasp* at the oven! :o
Heh. So we're new to the vegetarian thing. We avoid processed foods. Live in an apartment in the city. Own land in the country where we grow our own HUGE variety of veggies! ;)b
And all thanks to this site, I've been cooking up a storm of last years harvest that had left us quite puzzled on what to do with 'em...
Ha. I'll end it at that. Who knew cooking could be fun? Thanks to all of you at VegWeb!
Hi everyone!
I'm a 23 year old grad student who's been using this site for recipes for awhile, but I only recently decided to make the leap from lurker to poster. Yay! Right now I'm getting a masters degree in education, and recently my boyfriend of 5 years and I got an apartment together, which has been a (mostly) wonderful adventure. I've been a vegetarian since I was 9, and am starting to work on going vegan, so I'm sure I'll be using this site more than ever.
:howdy: to all of you! C'mon innnnn. :)
Yeah...

Yay! Friends who don't eat meat!
I am currently living in China teaching English to indifferent university students. Hoping to return to the US in the fall to go to grad school (waiting on my acceptance and rejection letters). I find that it can be difficult being a vegetarian here in China for a couple of reasons....#1 though I speak some Chinese it's not 100% fluent so there's always room for misunderstanding #2 so many dishes here seemed to be cooked with some sort of meat or blood or something in them, even the veggie ones and I'm never quite sure what has meat in it and what doesn't. I guess the best solution is to cook for myself, which I usually do, but I don't know as much about tofu and fun vegetarian kinds of things as I would like so I end up eating the same thing a lot. I am here for evil, selfish purposes....those being to leech off of all of your vegetarian/vegan knowledge and use it for myself! (Insert evil laugh here) I'm SO excited to be involved in a community of veggie-lovers! I feel very happy that my lifestyle choice will be understood and applauded instead of scoffed and mocked.
P.S. My Chinese friend taught me how to cook pumpkin the other day with Chinese rice wine. Next week we move on to pumpkin with dates and pumpkin and jasmine flower soup. Excitement plus!

Bienvenue à beaucoup d'emplacement de Vegans ici
Hello,
I am a 31 y/o mother of 3, and May 14 will make 10 years of marriage to wonderful and intelligent (sometimes aggravating) man. I started transitioning to a raw diet about a month ago, then, a couple of weeks ago hubby told me that he wanted to transition to vegetarian. So I found some recipes on this website and started cooking great meals for him and the kids (with some protests from the kids of course). I have now settled somewhere between a raw and vegetarian diet. I am a former law enforcement officer of 12 yrs. Once we discovered I was pregnant for the 3rd time, we decided that it would be better if I was a SAHM. So that's what i've been up to. It's nice to cyber meet ya'll.
Hey,
I'm Sean, I've been vegan for almost 10 years now, with some "vegan vacations" thrown in here and there. I've been using this site for years for recipies, but lately I've been laid off and have more time to root around this site so i thought I'd join up. I read some of the previous posts and was suprised to find how many other people said they went right from meat to vegan like i did.
HI!! My name is NILDA, 30 years old and from puerto rico. I'm new in this site. Iam a vegetarian and i am in transition to monodiet by Dr.Normans. I give vegetarian classes for free. I have to kids and they are in transition to this live style. :-D
