i need a new one, solely because my current employment doesn't (can't) really pay me enough since my rent is increasing. what i want to know is when you are looking for a (decent) job what do you use to search? i am mostly looking on craigslist and websites in my town that have job openings. are any of those "monster" type things any good?
p.s. i feel like i am qualified for nothing.
CA's State Personnel Board
Federal Jobs
Newspapers in CA There should be links to classified listings when you go to the actual newspaper sites.
Monster and HotJobs are worth a shot, although I've never had much luck with them.
Visit your local One-Stop Career Center. This is a pdf of locations broken down by county.... or the website is http://www.careerservicescenter.com
Could you work at some sort of medical facility that serves meals? What about nutritional counseling? Is that through Dr. offices or what?
Does your (former) university help with job placement? You would probably still be eligible for assistance from them since you are a recent grad.
I actually got my current job through Monster. You have to be proactive and search several times a day. Plus tailoring your resume to meet their needs or industry is always good. Not lying but rearranging wording to show your qualifications in what they are looking for. In a basic resume you may just state the general gist of what you did, but in a job posting response resume you should punch up your abilities or past experience with what they are looking for or the industry.
Good luck Hespedal! You are too totally qualified for a great job. Just because you are so awesome.
I found mine thorugh the State Personal Board. For a lot of positions, you have to take an exam first. Sometimes an exam is just a questionaire, but you still have to be on the list of exam takers to qualify for an interview.
Also, go to the career center of your school. Grads usually still get to use them. See if there are any jobs listed. I saw them listed at my college.
I bet you are qualified for more than you think! ;)
Here are a few sites to try. When my hubby was looking for work, he had quite a few bites, but he was wanting out of town work ( We were trying to move to Washington at the time) and everyone kept offering local. We didn't move, so he just kept his old job. Just check the sites daily because new jobs are always being added! Also, I see you have a degree in nutrition, what about trying local schools, gyms, spas, hospitals, and weight loss centers? Best of luck to you and welcome back! :)

I also think the Career Center of your former University would be the best resource. That's one way to make use of some of your hard-paid tuition!!
i'll have to check out the resources on campus once i get back into town (friday).
this is also where i have the dilemma of doing something i actually care about vs. something that makes me the amt. of money i need. hrmmm.... that is why i try to work with food as much as possible bc everyone needs to eat (i just hate consumption for consumptions sake... the way so many people make money). whatever, i can deal with what i have for a while and see how it goes, but keep any ideas coming, i am working on updating my resume (haven't done that in over a year now).
