A Bit Pissy, But Trying to Work Through It.

So, this is an almost unbelievable story.  (Or at least unbelievable to me).  I live in Bismarck, North Dakota.  And we just had a restaurant open up that has vegan options.  That lists it's ingredients.  That actually puts the vegan symbol on something so I do not have to read all of the ingredients.    The fact that this restaurant even exists in North Dakota is a miracle.

Then I find out that it is owned by a church that takes this position on homosexuality, "Don't hate the sinner, hate the sin".  Too bad I am gay.  They love me, but hate my sins.  Except that I don't believe that I have sinned.  And never will.  And sorry, I am rambling.  Just a bit pissed off right now.

Did I mention this place is less than a block from my job?  AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH.

((((((Sprinkles))))))) That's cruel!! I am totally with you on the miracle of vegan anything in North Dakota. What a cruel, cruel thing! How far are you from Fargo/Moorhead? Maybe we could have a Midwestern meetup sometime. With our own vegan treats. TAKE THAT stupid-vegan-food-place-that-thinks-homosexuals-are-sinners!

BP, I dunno, I always make bread when I'm in a bad mood, and it tastes extra good from all the pounding it takes. Maybe bread is exempt from the food karma?

Hahaha. In the face of every scientific advance, crazy christians keep on maintaining that gays are at heart, just perverts who resent being called perverted. I wonder how they would respond to this study:http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/10/science/10smell.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=homosexual%20brain%20study&st=cse&oref=slogin

There was a really interesting programme on TV over here last night featuring John Barrowman - don't know if he's well known int he US but he is here - born in Scotland, raised in the US and has a mega career as a stage, musical and TV actor.  Anyway, I digress, he's also gay and his programme followed up lots of investigative studies into what actually 'makes' someone gay.  The upshot was that there were several points where 'gaydom' could be initiated but they were all in the womb and as a result of hormones.  I would have thought it was entirely impossible to sin whilst still in utero, hence their stance is arrant nonsense.  And I am speaking as a Christian - of the good old C of S variety - we're a bit more tolerant over here (sometimes at least)

Sprinkles,

I am so sorry about your restaurant blues. Its a twisted cruel irony. A vegan place owned by bible-beaters...I can't quite wrap my brain around it.

I  :)>>> John Barrowman.  His book Anything Goes was delivered to my house today, but since I wasn't home I got a notice (according to the online records).

I'm rooting for a Jack & Ianto.

I think I was overreacting a bit when I wrote this, but I was sooooo excited about this place.

I, also, cannot wrap my brain around the fact that such a church would have such a place.  I looked at the website for the church and it is quite possibly a speak in tongues, warriors for God kinda place.  Anyone seen the documentary Jesus Camp?  Like that.

Pineapple Princess!  I am about 3 hours west of Fargo, but make it there periodically.  I was there a few weeks ago.  There is a 100% vegan restaurant there now.  Jazzie Mae's Place, I believe it's called.  It was nothing fancy, but also plenty good.  Where in Minnesota are you?

Sprinkles, I'm pretty far south (nearish to Rochester), but I have extended family that live scattered around the north part, so I come there sometimes. I have a cousin in Fargo, actually. I will let you know next time I am up that way, it would be cool to meet!

And I will bring you a vegan treat that will far rival any stuff at the new vegan place.  ;)b
