I too generally agreee that less is more, and all of my shopping this year has been done at thrift stores. That being said, I make commission not because I like it but it helps by diapers and food for the kiddos. So thanks to those who came and shopped.

After working last year's Black Friday in a food court, I am even more of a staunch supporter of Buy Nothing Day. Which reminds me, I should start making a quilt....

oww. Black friday consists of stores opening anywhere from midnight to 4am for sales and sometimes even people sleeping in tents outside to get there early. usually lots of things are insanely cheap. But you have to battle lots of insane people.
I don't leave the house on black friday. It scares me.
Ditto. I sit inside with a machete and a machine gun.
Seriously though, the crowds get SO crazy people get killed. A couple years ago, two elderly women beat up this man because they wanted the SpongeBob television set he bought. ALso, last year in Ohio, people died from being trampled. At a Toys R Us,
God you're bringing back bad memories for me! I have spent most of my retail life working at walmart. About 3 years ago I Was working BF I had to fight my way through a crowd. There was an elderly lady I think she was like 84/85 something like that WITH A WALKER guarding the last 50inch tv. Apperently I "looked at it the wrong way" That 100lb lady pushed me down an isle sliding on my behind into a freezer case. Keep in mind, she had a WALKER and I weighed at the time almost 300lbs!
The only explaination she had was she thought I was gonna take her tv away from her because I "looked it the wrong way". I was wearing my flipping uniform for crying out loud! They asked me if I wanted to press charges and I just couldn't do that to someone my great grandmas age, so what if my arse hurt for a week.
Seriously though I know what you mean!!
Sometimes these crazy sales are the only time of the year when we can reasonably afford to get this stuff. ..... Also, I'm very tired.
Yep mmhmm I'm right there with ya. Theres no way I could have bought a new camera as nice as the one I got this morning, except at the black friday price. I figure I'm entitled to one nice luxury item (besides my computer which I bought 4 1/2 years ago). I like doing digital photography (even though I'm not great at it) I figure its a cheaper hobby then what I could have. Plus with it being all digital I'm saving tress and stuff (lame excuse I know). Either way Its mine and It was fun getting it :P
Speaking of; I won't lie it was so stressful at Walmart this morning! GAH! First I went to the photo section to find the camera, nope its not there, waited in line to ask someone where to get the camera. Had to walk to a different part of the store to get the camera. When I got there they had it blocked off and told me to go back out into the asile and fight my way to the "proper" start of the line. So what did I do? I hopped over 2 rows of benches they had set up and got in line. All the while the store manager is staring at me, I'm thinking oh great Ima get kicked out now. LOL Thankfully he likes me so he wasn't going to do that, but still, I was working on no sleep and Didn't care. so I get the camera, I spent probably a good 30 minutes in total just trying to get around the store. Finally get up the front, I had to wait in like for another 15 minutes to buy my stuff.
All in all this is what I got:
Kodak EasyShare cd82
DVDS:
The Devil Wears Prada True Lies DrumLine The Happening Robots Dodgeball Mr. Woodcrock Monster-in-law Troy 30 Days of Night Underworld 1 + 2 The Lake House

I'm kinda scared to even try to go out today so I didn't. I'm not really in to electronics so I guess there was nothing really for me. The highlight of my day though was this morning at 4:30 my husband woke me up excitedly to tell me I needed to hurry up and get ready to go out to shop on black thansgiving.

I only learned what Black friday was a couple of years ago....sounds scary. I guess the nearest thing I can think of here is the January sales - that start on Boxing Day. There's one particular clothes shop (Next) that has apparently amazinf sales that start at 4am, I think, on Boxing Day and I know loads of people that always go. Seriously people have to queue up outside the shops to get into the sales. Um, no thanks.
