Calling older rocker VWers, help!

I say "older" but anyone with at taste for classic rock can help.
I posted this on the "What song is stuck in your head today" thread but there isn't much activity there so here it goes cuz it's making me crazy!!

There's a song from the early 70s by a classic rock band, and the coda at the end of the chorus goes:
Nah nah nah-nah, nah nah nah-nah. Hey hey! Right now!

The "words" literally are "nah nah nah"...I didn't forget them!  ;D
I sang through that bit for DH and he recognised it but neither one of us can remember the name of the band OR the song.
Pleeeeez help!

Are you sure it's not "nah nah nah-nah, nah nah nah-nah, hey-hey-hey...good bye......."    A one-hit wonder by a group named "Steam" that has become a classic.

That chorus has actually been sampled a few times over the years in modern songs.  Most recently Kristina Debarge.

As a cheerleader in the 80's we use to sing that to the other team as we were kicking their butts.  Like, goodbye...we are done with you, I guess.  ???

I remember the original song when it first came out......we need a grey haired smiley for us experienced vegwebbers  ^-^  A smiley using a walker would be perfect  :-D

The chorus is still sung in hockey arenas when the home team wins  ;)b

Yup, That has to be the one...I remember it well...the 70's best damn time of my life, besides having my boys.

(As Lucy Van Pelt): THAT'S IT!!! (Knocks all the VWers over with the force of the yell).
Thank. You.
It was driving me nutz. Now all the little gremlins can crawl back into the woodwork.

"Steam." No wonder neither of us could remember it. Like their namesake, they just evaporated. I do remember going to the skating rink in highschool and the DJ refusing to play either this or "Clap for the Wolfman" because people insisted on stamping through the choruses, which made wheels come off the skates.

For future reference, if you know the lyrics to a song, you can type it into google, and it will give you a bunch of hits for the lyrics, and  song! I do that a lot. It will most likely just pop up in your google toolbar, when you start typing the lyrics.

That's how I found it, but of course changed the lyrics because I guessed correctly that she had the lyrics wrong.  Google is amazing.

It's perfect that you used this quote whilst trying to figure out a song.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to "type in the lyrics" when you really aren't sure if you got them right. But thanks for setting me straight.  ::) ::) ::)

I prefer to ask people who were actually there at the time.

Well, you can type in what you think is right (such as nah nah nah nah), and it still would have come up. But ok.  ::) ::) ::) Thanks.
