Cheap airfare tickets?

I want to fly to Syracuse over the July 4th holiday weekend to visit my mom. Does anybody have any suggestions for getting cheap airfare tickets? So far it is $400 to fly there. I have three reasons to go up there. One, my mom wants me to help her set up the nersury for the baby since I am going up there to have the baby. Two, I want to visit a doctor while I am up there to get to know him/her. Three, I want to see my mommy and she wants to see my belly!
But $400 is a bit steep and I am trying to pay off some bills before the baby comes and this isn't going to help with that. Any suggestions?
Have you tried http://www.kayak.com? I travel a lot for work (and to visit my traillng spouse) and I live by this site. It's pretty much a meta-search of several of the discount airfare sites and nearly all of the airlines (except Southwest). It has all sorts of options for searching for nearby airports or searching for alternate dates to see if you can get it cheaper by changing your plans just a little bit. It also has easy filters to limit your trip to just 1 layover, or to a nonstop flight.
It's great! ;)b
I just checked Southwest and they're back up to regular prices. For a while after the maintenance debacle, you could get bargain basement prices through them. Flights to Las Vegas were, I think, $36.
I dunno if Jetblue flys to where you need to go, but they are by far the best (and least expensive) airline ever.. check out their site to see whats up.. and i know that tues. and wed. are the best days to get tickets, unless they are holidays..
Nope, Jetblue isn't good, it is over $500. I also tried Southwest, not good either. Still the cheapest I can find is US Airways for $392 but the time of the flights suck.
I'm trying to find a cheap one way ticket to LA...everything is over 230! I remember way back when, when tickets from LA to NY were 109 on jetblue...geeezzz...sorry this didn't really help you much but I feel your pain, blehhhhh.
have you tried allegient air? they are a cheap airline. a lot of the cheap ones are cutting back on where they fly though.
Wow, talk about limited destinations! That Allegient air doesn't fly hardly anywhere, they don't even fly out of Houston which really surprises me because Houston is the biggest city in TX. I tried surrounding airports whichis like a 3 hour drive or more but then from those places the only place it flys to is Las Vegas. I tried LA but there are no flights from there so that is out.
As far as driving, it is 1500 miles, and time is an issue when I am talking about going up there for 4 days. Now when I go up there for 3 months starting in September then yes I will be driving (with the help of my mom). I am wanting to fly up there to visit in July, and see my new doctor to try to work out the best way of transferring doctor's.
this was just on yahoo news-don't know if it will help!
