is chew[ing tobacco] vegan?

I know cigarette companies test on animals and I was talking to my coworker about this. He mentioned that he is making a conscious effort to not support and buy products that are tested on animals. He chews, but said he would stop if the brand he likes tests on animals. I looked for resources on this, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have links or information about this they'd like to share?
It may be vegan but it's certainly not healthy (or, IMHO, attractive). Instead of lung cancer you open yourself for mouth or throat cancer. Not much of a trade.
Well, he is well aware of the health effects of it but that isn't enough for him to stop. He does not and never has smoked cigarettes, but has been chewing for about ten years (he started when he was in the Air Force). The testing on animals thing would really drive him to stop, so I'm hoping I can find some resources on it
What brand(s) does he use? You could try looking for info on those specific companies.
My understanding was that it was the general tobacco companies (not cigarette brands) that test, like Philip Morris and R.J.Reynolds. I'm not sure about Philip Morris, but I believe Reynolds has chewing tobacco brands.
Tell him his jaw will fall off and he will scare all the kittens to death.
No, don't do that.
oh my goodness, I just found the brand he uses and, as of 2006, it's an RJ Reynold's brand.
Victory!
So you can use the vegan artillery and save him from himself at the same time! Sweet.
You might tell him us gals don't think chawin' and spittin' is macho or attractive or anything...but then if he's gay, that will get fart high in a whirlwind, to quote my Southern daddy!
