don't open if easily grossed out - vegan question

so... I was talking to my friend who just moved back from California and he said he had met lots of vegans who are in a quest to have 'floating poop'. He said that, if your poop floats, it means it's completely pure and not weighed down by animal proteins. Umm.. I'm straight up vegan and my poop does NOT float, not even a little. Anyway, I told him that I'd ask on VegWeb to find out if this is BS or not, it sure seems like it to me..
Mine floats...but only because I aim for the "little raft" I keep in my toilet! :D
I really don't look at it that closely to see if it floats or not.....I think not....I was still sleep walking and drinking coffee last time I "went" earlier today and I've blocked it from my memory. I'll let you know tomorrow...... (if you really want to know).... :o ::)
Don't worry, mine doesn't float either.....I learned on Veg web the other day in another post that if it floats it means that there is a lot of air (gas) in it! It was under a post from yabbit girl I think, maybe, about a certain food that made her regular. I can't remember, but there was more talk about it there if you want to search.
I am wonder how often other vegans go. I go about 3 times per day! It seems like a lot, I know! Years ago when I was a very unhealthy eater, I didn't even go once per day.
It is my understanding that poop floats if you eat a lot of fat.
I cant believe I'm posting here.... :o I found that when I became vegan I did go more frequently....my IBS went away too! I used to take laxatives in obscene quantities...lots of caffeine too, from coffee and diet pills...and i was still only going once a week. After I got healthier and stooped taking all that crap, I still couldn't...you know, crap...My doctor said I'd pretty much screwed up my body and would probally never be regular again...BUT, I went vegan, and now I go at least once day! :D exciting , I know...But the best part is that the acute IBS symptoms are gone now too! And to think, I didn't do it for the satisfying bowel movements, I did it for the animals...kinda makes me believe in Karma... ;) No word on the floating, though...its up and down from day to day, depending on consistancy. I think its all the fiber we get!

I always understood that you should go after every meal. If you don't you're not getting enough fiber.
Mine doesn't float either.

I second this, a friend of mine in med school told me this. I always thought sinking was a good thing.
this is making me laugh so hard, you guys
i wish my boyfriend would wake up so i could tell him about it h
hahahahaha
My, uh, solid waste has never floated in all my life, and it would terrify me if it did! I mean it's only a jump from floating in the bowl to ATTACKING the person sitting above it...oh, no, wait--that's sewer rats...or was it gophers?? ;D ;D ;D
I've also heard that if it floats it means that its full of fats.
I always check to make sure I'm eating healthy enough!
Does that make me weird?
Mine sinks in the morning and--occasionally--floats in the evening. ::)
I once saw a great article about this. It said that floating stool is a sign of too much fat and a sinking stool is a sign of too much fiber so food passed too quickly to adequately absorb nutrients. Apparently, what you want is something in the middle. Maybe a sinker that doesn't go down to the beginning of the U-bend. ::) I wasn't sure why your friend would think that floaters are best - until I found this article. I don't think there's consensus on the matter.
Some experts argue that stools should float; Ferreira says buoyancy is a sign that the body has absorbed the minerals in the food. Others believe healthy bowel movements should touch bottom because of their bulk and fiber content. "Most stools will sink," says Loftness, who doesn't buy either argument. "Whether it floats or sinks really doesn't seem to make any difference."

Yabbit, you have such an imagination! ;D ;D Did you ever see the talking poo character on Beavis and Butthead- I think maybe the Christmas Poo or something?? Thought maybe you'd been a bit traumatized by it if you had! ;)

Oh yeah, thanks Kitty! It's been a while... :)
I hesitated to admit that I knew that!
My brother-in-law thought my life knowledge wouldn't be complete if I didn't know about Mr. Hanky. That's the only South Park episode I've seen, but it was awesome. ;D
Yeah. My, ummm, uh, my BROTHER, that's it, made me watch it! That's how I know about Mr. Hanky! MY brother had it on! Yeah! Thanks for reminding me! ;)
OK I feel better too! cuz I noticed that I go more frequently and that mine doesn't float either!!! HA, thanks for the topic!
