Evil old woman---help

So my neighbor's landlady is threatening to poison the neighborhood cats if my neighbor can't manage to keep them out of the yard.

None of the cats belong to my neighbor....some are strays, some have been dropped off by negligent owners, and some belong to people in the neighborhood who believe in letting their cats experience the outdoors.

Regardless, I am FUMING that she would even THINK about killing poor defenseless animals that aren't hurting her one bit.

What can I do to this woman if I catch her trying to poison them?

Take pictures if you can catch her in the act of placing poisoned food.  If you see any suspicious food, call animal control or the police.  It's probably illegal to poison cats just about anywhere and she's also endangering other wildlife that may eat the food.

maybe call animal control now and tell them what shes threatening.  they could possibly give her a warning so she doesnt follow through.

If you personally heard this, you could report it to the police. No photos needed, though they would help.

It depends on the laws in your city/county/state.  Here they wouldn't do anything but send animal control out to round up all the cats and put them down.  Outdoor cats are common here but illegal unless on a lead.

Poison her instead.

Poison her instead.

HAHAHA That's more what I wanna do. She's just....mean. She yelled at my neighbor once (the one that rents from her) because a strong storm blew down the apple tree in the front yard. Like she coulda stopped it??

I'm gonna get in touch with animal control and the police, but I''m not sure how much influence she has in this city....she's extremely wealthy.

Check local and state legislation first. Then go from there.

Me, I'd pay to send some frighteners round there....(well, no, I wouldn't. But I want to.)

No photos needed, though they would help.

The reason photos help (but aren't necessary) is because even if there is poison food out, she could say she didn't place it.  With a good questioner, she'd probably admit to it, but it just guarantees things.

Here they wouldn't do anything but send animal control out to round up all the cats and put them down.

This is why I wouldn't call anyone until after the poison is placed.

I really like everyone's responses. I had a landlord that hated cats and threatened to kill any cat he saw. He often kicked my mom's cat and referred to cats as n*****rs. For serial? I thought I had anger issues...some people just amaze me with their evilness.
