Five interesting things people don't know about you.
Go!
1. I collect mugs, miniature books, and state quarters.
2. I have this idea in my head for a cafe with these mini cake desserts. (But not cupcakes; it's different.) I came up with it freshman year. I even have some sketches of it in my sketchbook. Top secret stuff.
3. I was born with cerebral palsy because the umbilical cord got wrapped around my neck, but it's very very mild. Many people with CP have trouble walking or speaking, but mine only left me with a very slight limp in my right foot and some random difficulties playing the violin. No one notices unless I tell them, that's how minor it is. I was pretty lucky.
4. I really love corsets. Love 'em. But I don't own one yet. Call me anti-feminist. Sorry, ok!
5. I am good at spelling. I went all the way to the local televised bee (NOT the big one, the Syracuse one) in eight grade, and it was pretty fly. Now I love crosswords. I credit my grandfather, who used to write crossword puzzles. :)
I never had any umbilical cord issues but my mom had severe toxemia when she was pregnant with me. Ok....
1. My dad was and my uncle is a professional country singer. Earl Thomas Conley was popular in the 80's and my dad was in the band for about 7 years.
2. I used to be über Christian. I gave a sermon in jr. high, went to several church camps, went to Promise Keepers a few times. Also in jr. high, was the youth group representative (elected by peers) at the church board meetings. All of that stopped in high school and in high school, I grew out of church and the churchly ways. I now practice Joshodist. Ha.
3. I feel as if I've been here to earth before in past lifetimes. I feel this way a lot and I sometimes get burnt out with people, places, things, ideas, etc. I'm not saying I'm fickle or indecisive (because I'm definitely not fickle or indecisive). I just feel like I don't fit in even though I'm a people person.
4. I've gotten out of one speeding ticket and two DUI's (yes, two breathalyzers). I just told my mom about these DUI's, 4.5 years after they happened.
5. In the past, if I've been into a girl, I will go after her even if she's got a boyfriend. I've never tried engaged or married girls. But I don't try anything anymore. I just keep to myself.
Bonus: I'm obsessed with Nine Inch Nails. Oh wait... :P
I also had the umbilical cord around my neck. I was born so fast that it didn't really matter though (my mom needed stitches...). Also, Minke, I had a super-Lutheran upbringing and I've had the opposite experience to yours...I've found them to be very closed-minded and judgmental in general. I'm glad you found some nice ones. :)
I've been trying to think of interesting things about myself ever since this thread started, but I don't think I'm all that interesting. But I'll try...
1. I'm not afraid of things like snakes or spiders, but I'm seriously afraid of cockroaches. I know it's totally irrational and they're harmless but they freak me out.
2. I have trichotillomania. When I was 2 or 3 years old, I would pull my hair out by the handful and give it to my parents. They thought it was falling out because of some disease and they took me to lots of specialists, until one doctor finally thought to ask me if I was pulling it. I don't pull my head hair out anymore but I really enjoy pulling out my eyebrows, so sometimes I look really stupid because my eyebrows will be way too thin or have a gap or something.
3. My thumbs are double-jointed. Both my brothers have double-jointed thumbs as well, but our parents don't.
4. Flip-flops are my favorite footwear. I even wore them for my wedding.
5. I have never smoked anything, not even a cigarette, and I have no desire to.
I've heard that a lot about Lutherans which is so weird because the church that I went to was so untraditional and ultra-liberal. They were a bunch of hippies. After my pastor died they even had a lesbian pastor.
Edit: Also, the friend that I went with also would be dressed from head to toe in Satanic and metal garb and they never had a problem with it.
I didn't think Lutherans were allowed to even have female pastors, much less a lesbian one. Those sounds like some very cool Lutherans.

Depends on which synod you're in. They're kinda like Anglicans...you get the ultraliberal and the ultraconservative, and everything in between.

The pastor at the Lutheran church my mother attends is a woman.
Hmm, obviously Missouri synod Lutherans (which is what I was raised in) are the ultra-conservative ones. It's good to know they're not all like that. (Of course, there were exceptions even in the churches/schools that I went to. I don't mean to over-generalize. I hope I didn't offend any Lutherans here...VW people are awesome, Lutheran or not). :)
Is there correlation between being born with the cord around your neck/prematurely/from a difficult pregnancy and becoming vegan, I wonder? I was 2 mos premature and weighed about 2 lbs when I was born, and spent the first month or so of my life in an incubator. Of course, I'm not vegan, but still.
I think 1 in 10 people are born with the cord around their neck. And about 4% of babies are breech (mine was). I don't know any statistics on premature babies or difficult pregnancies.

Huh, might be something there! Haha.
I was 2 mo. premature and breech. I had to be c-sectioned. Also spent the first few weeks of my life in one of those incubators and had be hooked up to some specialty machine when my parents could finally take me home.
sorry to mess up the trend, but i wasn't premature or breech or fetal distress thingy. but what can i say, i'm awesome.
it's hard for me to think of five things that aren't known... let alone interesting.
Hiya! Since I just returned, I'll say 5 new things about me!!!
1. I have an orange & white cat named Eddie. I got him as a kitten a little over a year ago. A friend of mine found him & a bunch of his brothers & sisters in her yard. He's a little trouble maker, but super fun.
2. My hair is now red.
3. I donated my left kidney to my dad this past fall. We are both doing great now, all recovered. It was a great experience & if anyone else is considering donating to someone, I'd be happy to tell you more about it.
4. I helped form a new charitable organiazation called We Are American. Basically, we will help out anyone who needs it.
5. I worked a total of 2 whole months over the past year, and I have no idea what I'm going to do for a steady income in the future, but it's ok, I'm selling avon & mystery shopping to help make ends meet while I look for a new job.
Hey Lisa!
welcome back, lisa! i was thinking about you the other day and wondering what you've been up to!
Thanks! I tell people I keep busy doing nothing. I started a blog on Tumblr, so as soon as I actually put something on it, I'll put out the link. Anyone else on it?
that's awesome that you donated your kidney. very noble!
So, I'm fairly newish on here, so here's some things about me..
1. 10 of my friends and 1 boyfriend have died. I predicted the latter. He still went.
2. I don't really have any friends. I think it's because I have trust issues, or it could be because I think a lot of people suck.
3. I found out 2 hours before graduation that I was graduating.
4. My first memory is of me when I was 5 sitting between a toilet and a wall crying because I didn't want to die. (there was nothing wrong with me), and yet I've been hours from dying twice.
5. I married my husband after 4 months of dating. We're still together and it's been 7 and a half years.
I feel like all of this is bad stuff... but I do have happy stuff! :)
