Have you narrowed down middle names yet?  That might make it easier to choose a first name.  (Not sure if you're doing this, but a lot of people use the middle name to honor someone, or use a name they like but wouldn't use as a first name.  Like in our case, the middle name contenders were James after my cousin who died a few years ago, Paul after DH's grandpa, and Jacob because we like it but it's too common to use as a first name).

Also, what do you mean by no Biblical ties?  A lot of names are Biblical but people don't really think of them that way because they're so common, like Matthew, David, Nathan, etc.  Are you opposed to those kinds of names, or you don't want obviously Biblical names like Isaac or Noah?

I'm a little obsessed with names....::)

I can't avoid the Top 20 (I don't know them), but I like names with strong beginning sounds, like Aiden, or something that begins with a K or a T...

I don't know about now, but a few years ago Aidan/etc spellings was the most popular name for baby boys. :p

That only makes me  :) , even if I blew the rules.

I don't think the top 20 means much anymore.  The #1 name is something like 1% of babies born and by the time you get to the 20th in rank it's something like 0.5%.

Nope! :) We suck at this whole name thing!  We are going to keep thinking we have loads of time to figure it out and be caught totally unaware when I go into labor.  We are (ideally) planning on having 3 sets of names going in.... 3 first name choices and 3 middle name choices.  The middle name is going to be a name we like, but wouldn't use as a first name.  The only name I have that would honor someone would be after my (now deceased) cousin.  And to even use it, I would need to ask my Aunt for permission after I have the baby (if we decide to use it).

I mean like obviously biblical names like; Abel and Jedidiah.  The more common names you mention (Matthew, David, Nathan) I wouldn't use because they are so common.
