Georgia does something right for a change...

On our weekly trip to Whole Foods today, bookpapa picked up a store calendar and brought it home. We discovered WF is having their 5% Day this month to support Ahimsa House which is located in Metro Atlanta. "Ahimsa House is the first and only shelter in Georgia that provides care for beloved companion animals caught in the cycle of domestic violence. They cover food costs, vet bills and find foster homes for pets that might otherwise be injured or abused." I had never heard about this organization and am thrilled it exists.

That's awesome.

I just woke up from a long Saturday night and my eyes are still blurry.  I read the subject heading as "George does something right for a change..." and I thought to myself, "Impossible!"

I guess it was unlikely, as this post is about Georgia.  That's a really great program.  I imagine rescued animals that were abused are both grateful and lack trust - which might make them unpredictable.  It takes special people to do that.

I heard a report on NPR awhile back about this, although I'm not sure it was talking about a shelter in Georgia.
