I am leaving San Luis Obispo on the 16th (hopefully, maybe 17th) and taking the train down to San Diego and flying out of SD to Norfolk, VA... then i am going to bike w/ one of my fellow riders to Nags Head. Whew... makes me tired just thinking about it. I need to pack and stuff...

I gots a question - when will you be done your tour?
i arrive in san diego on july 24th!
I gots a question, too. How many bike tires do you expect to do through?
hopefully not too many! i have a patch kit and a few spare tires with me at all times, though. 5? i really have no idea.

me and one of my fellow riders are going to do it together. we are starting from norfolk the day i get in (the 20th) and probably going to camp after about 40-50 miles since we aren't allowed to get to nags head before the 21st. still haven't figured this all out...
I gots me another question. How did your ride to Bakersfield go for your doctor's appointment?
it was so HARD! bakersfield is hot, and hilly (my first day, anyway). the stupid doctors office called me after i had gotten in and made me postpone my appointment so i had to take the train back, but the ticket was on sale and they had racks available so i didn't need to box/pay for my bike or anything!
You should be sure to come visit me. :D How much is your butt gonna hurt? :o
sooo badly!

question dealing with the butt hurting--what kind of seat/seat cover do you have? oh, and do you have a front rack as well as a rear one?

i use the seat that came with my bike, actually. it is lithia 755 or something? there is a cut-out in it and i looove that. i also wear padded bike shorts. pearl-izumi. i have only a rear rack with large panniers.

Good info! I browsed the website months ago and thought about sending you something, but thought you were doing Boston to Santa Barbara. You would have had a package waiting for you in Kansas! I guess if we did that we could give it to the Buddhist firefighter who lives there.

OMG, this goes on FOREVER! I can't believe you're going to be biking through the south through most of July.
And--BTW--I have a large rear rack with big panniers and I'm not talking about my bike.

I was looking at the itinerary that said Little Rock in July (maybe it was June but either way it sounded hot).
And yes, I WAS referring to my big ole butt.
