You are here

Hey, wait a minute...

Is it just me?  I haven't seen any sigs, lately.  When did that happen?  I checked my settings, and no, I didn't check the "Don't show signatures" or whatever box.  So, I'm confused.    :o

dunno. havent been on here lately b/c i kinda forgot about this site that and its late here so i tend to ramble when im tired.

I've noticed that as well. Thought I had done something wrong and checked and rechecked my profile but couldn't find any way to make my ultra-cool, super-funny and brilliant signature (I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy) appear in my posts.

Lately? As in how lately? Cuz I've never seen sigs.... :(

I dunno how lately this is.  I know I used to see them.  I just added a sig and was quite disappointed when I noticed it wasn't showing up.  Kbone:  I checked and rechecked too, thinking I missed something.

Well, the only signature I ever remember seeing is yogaferret's.  It showed up in this post a couple days ago: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=16829.msg114457#msg114457

But I swear, she used to have a Gandhi quote in her signature too.  On the other hand, I may just be having a very early morning...

Yes actually I have seen yogaferrt's! I figured she was just typing that in or using a code for it or something though...

If you read on the profile page the explanation of signatures beside where you put in your signature, it says the signature displays with "personal messages".  I take that to mean not posts in the Recipe Q & A forum but private email messages that you send out via the site.  How yogaferret displays hers is a mystery.  Maybe she'll see this and explain it all to us!

Oh.  Maybe you're right.  I just though that I used to see more sigs around the Q & A.  Yogaferret, where are you?

I saw a post from yogaferret so I'm bumping this to the top so maybe she'll see it and enlighten us!

I use "GreaseMonkey" which is a firefox script. ;)
gmail has trouble inserting decent sigs so that's why I started using it.

And yes, used to be a ghandhi quote, but searching for a new one so removed it in the meantime.

There!  Consider yourself enlightened.  :D

Okay.  Still confused, though.  ???

Firefox is a internet brower (like Internet Explorer is a brower).  A script is kind of like the TSR (terminate and stay resident) programs we used to use back in the DOS days.  I think "Greasemonkey" allows you to insert the text that you've stored in it whenever you execute the script.  Yogaferret, if I've got that wrong, please tell me.

T, I wiki-ed it, and that's kind of what I read.  Alas, I have IE, so none of this helps me.  :'(

Nope.  More or less right on,except for the 'DOS' days.  ;)
scripts are very common tools in unix or unix-based environments as such, very common on the web.

Grease monkey allows you to execute certain scripts within certain 'environments', so it's not just inserting text only. :)

Tkitty96:
firefox is free to download so you can run alongside IE if you wanted.  I don't even use IE anymore when on windoze.  my Ferret Resources link has a small blue button on the right where you can download it for free.  (and by doing so support a shelter, but I'm not supposed to tell you that.)

I'm running Windows Vista.  Is that going to be a problem?

Highly unlikely.
Altho, from what I heard so far, Vista itself is full of glitches.

If there is a problem, it won't kill your computer or anything, the firefox program just won't work until netscape makes patches to address the problem.
I doubt there''ll be a problem tho because windoze and netscape (maker of firefox) are in tight competition for Internet browser superiority so  netscape is usually right on the ball when it comes to compensating for windoze's problems.
