You are here

Hey y'all. I moved to Nashville!

I know I haven't been around for a while, but I figured I'd give y'all an update on how everything's been for me. I uprooted from everything I've ever known in California and moved to Tennessee. I've been here about two weeks now and so far it's been very good to me. I found a job as a server to hold me over until I get something more solid under my belt. I've also already met a cute boy (woo!), taught my new roommate to love tempeh & quinoa, and I've made a couple friends. I also met Lubi, and we've hung out a few times since I've been here.

This has been a great experience for me, and a real eye opener. I've learned a lot about myself and what I'm made of, and I am so glad I took the oppurtunity to embark on a journey like this. Major thanks to all of you who've been supportive (especially Saskia!), and I look forward to meeting some of y'all who live in surrounding areas.

I'm really happy for You, sb!

and yes, a Southern US meetup needs to happen soon.

The South represents!  ;)b x 25

I would love to go to that meet-up.  (One more reason to question the grand I've put down on going to U2 shows.)

It's good to hear you're settling in.  Only you could move halfway across the country and in a few weeks time:  1) find a cute boy, 2) find a job, 3) find a cute boy, 4) have a roommate that is open to tempeh, 5) find a cute boy 6) socialize with co-workers.

Congratulations on your awesome move and self exploration SB!  I really did not fit in well in Tennessee personally when I lived there from 1998 through 2003, but I am sure things have changed a bit!  Enjoy yourself and have fun with Lubi, you both are such awesome people I am sure you will have a great time.

*hugs*

Whoaa!  I didn't even know you were moving!  My sister lives in Knoxville now.... so, if I ever get up that way there are tons of people I'll have to meet up with.

Sounds like it's all working out great for you, but why the move, Mr. Base?

Sounds like it's all working out great for you, but why the move, Mr. Base?

A growing discontent with the vibe of the area accompanied with an increased sense of adventure. I was just ready for a challenge in life like this. It's something I've always wanted to do, but have always made excuses for why I couldn't (work, friends, family, whatever). I finally grew weary of making everyone else happy and decided to do something for me. Why Nashville? Why not? I wanted a culture shock. I wanted to live in a place where I didn't know anybody. I wanted to live in a place where the only person I have to depend on is myself. I wanted to see what I was made of. I am so glad I moved, and I don't think I'll ever move back to California. Will I stay in nashville? Only time will tell. I'd love to explore the world and live in many different areas to realize and achieve my maximum potential in life. I'll settle when it's time. Right now is not that time for me.

Well good luck!  Sounds awefully familuar like when I decided to just up and move to Alaska  ::).

I hope the culture shock doesn't get to you though, I am having a problem with that same thing right now, culture shock.  I am a country girl living close to NYC, NOT A GOOD THING!  But then again, I really had no interest in moving here in the first place whereas you wanted to go to Nashville, so perhaps it will work out.  Money problems is what drove me out of Alaska and back home, but if it wasn't for that, I would have stayed!  I hope the same doesn't happen to you!

I don't think SB is in danger of becoming a single mom!  ;)
