What's your favorite holiday and why.

Christmas. I'm an atheist, so it might be an odd favorite. But, what I love about it is getting together with family I don't see much of throughout the year, eating great food, lots of wine, laughter, jokes, stories, bad family photos ... just lots of love and fun. And, of course, presents! ;) I love picking stuff out for everyone, making things for them, etc. I love the cold weather, the snow, the decorations, the tree.
Actually, pretty much starting in September begins my favorite season. Culminating with the best holiday of all (IMO) - xmas.

Christmas, most definitely. It is a month-long celebration in my house. We put up lots of decorations and the tree gets saved for me to decorate aside from the lights and my parents' collection of Star Trek ornaments because Dad wants to arrange them specifically; he calls them "The Universe." Apparently geekiness is a genetic trait.
Anyhoo, we have about five thousand Christmas videos and we try to watch all of them but never succeed. The ones we always watch are Rudolph, Charlie Brown, Grinch, A Christmas Story, Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, Rocko's Modern Christmas (from an old tape), and the best Christmas movie of all time...National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Also, Mom collects adaptations of A Christmas Carol and she tries to watch all of them; I watch two or three because after awhile it's like, okay, we get it, Scrooge discovers the meaning of Christmas! We also have a collection of Christmas CDs. I steal a few to take to school and while everyone's studying for finals (myself included), they get to listen to Andy Williams singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Christmas music always makes me happy, though Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is evil.
Dad and I also make Christmas cookies, a tradition we've had for over fifteen years now. And there's lots of good food lying around the house!
We also go to the Christmas Eve service at church and my favorite is when we all light candles and sing Silent Night with the lights dimmed.
And let's not forget the presents! My dog likes to try and eat wrapping paper, so we always open his present first - a toy of some sort - and he'll spend the morning dismantling it while we open gifts. That dog eats anything we gave him - we once gave him one of those tennis balls on a rawhide rope, supposedly indestructible, and he not only chewed through the rope but also began eating the ball before we took it away. And he's a jack russel! Strong chompers he's got, that's for sure.
Gee, it's not even fall and I'm already getting excited. I love Fall in general like many have said, having so many holidays all at once.

I don't celebrate holidays or birthdays, so any official U.S. holiday that gets me extra time off work is my favorite holiday!! :)

I tend to like no-pressure holidays more than holidays like Christmas, where you have to shop and decorate and it turns into this big, stressful thing.
For that reason, the 4th of July is my favorite (not for patriotic reasons at all). My entire extended family gets together at my aunt's cabin on a lake, and we just eat and drink and light fireworks all week. We pretty much all have a countdown going all year because it's so much fun!

You should Storm especially about birthdays. You only get one chance to be that age and some people don't make it to a specific age not meaning to sound morbid here.

How long I live isn't as important to me as how I live and what I do with the time I'm here. :)

You are celebrating your life.
my birthday :D :D
That's how I feel to. :D ;D
I think there's nothing in this world as nice for it to be snowing on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

The only time age was ever important to me is when I turned 16 and 18 and that was only for the associated benefits. http://bestsmileys.com/cars/18.gif http://bestsmileys.com/drinking/6.gif
How long I live isn't as important to me as how I live and what I do with the time I'm here. :)
