i need to raise my blood pressure for a BP test tomarrow, so what is something i can do to raise it quick about 30 mins before the test?
i was thinking of doing 2 shots of espresso...
would that work?
:(
Run around right before you have your BP tested.
Why is your BP low? This is a serious problem-- you should address this with your doc so you can actually fix it, not just pass a test. (I had super low BP last year.)
idk, its just really low...
100/60 i think.
thanks for the running around tip, ill be sure to try it ;)b

My blood pressure is typically lower than that, and my doctor thinks it's great. Why do you want it to read higher? Low is good.
my doctor tells me its low :-\
Mine was 90/60 for a while and the dr told me to drink more water. I was drinking a ton of water at the time so that wasn't going to solve it. But I can always tell when mine is running low, I get lightheaded when I stand up after bending over at the waist. I notice that it have less symptoms when I am drinking soda so maybe the espresso would work. If the dr checks your pulse tomorrow and you run around he might get worried about it being higher than before.
Personally if your dr thinks your bp is too low there then you need a new dr. all the dr's I see are happy that I have lower bp they say 120/70 or higher is actually a risk, but because so many people with higher bp's when they see someone with 120/70 they are happy.

Of course you don't want high blood pressure, but low blood pressure has real risks. If your blood is not circulating properly, your organs are not getting enough blood. GG, you mentioned having been dizzy/lightheaded in the past-- if you have low blood pressure, this could be b/c your brain is not getting enough blood. A real risk! One of my symptoms was that my body temperature dropped several degrees, because my body was not getting enough blood. Having your temperature at 96 or 97 degrees is PAINFUL and AWFUL and kind of crazy.
American docs almost never ever worry about low blood pressure b/c it's so rare with the SAD. If you have low pressure, it's usually not a problem UNLESS there are symptoms or until it gets really really low. 100/60 is not really really low, but do you experience any symptoms, Jeffykite?
docs worry about it if your weight is also too low...
hey, Kate...hes another Connetic-kitten, like us and Cali!!!
no symptoms of feeling dizzy or lightheaded, but my temperature was 94.5 a few days ago :o
its raised to about 96-97 now, but i never feel cold...

Usually only experience light headedness when I am bending over outside and it is hot outside. Something about the heat makes it worse for me. My body temp is usually lower than average and I am always cold. I like to have the AC up to 80 degrees in the summer when dh isn't home. Interesting though, I was on the SAD diet when my bp was that low and I think it has gone back up some since becoming a veg*n.
I need to make an appt for a phsycial and I will try to remember to bring it up when I go.

My normal body temperature is between 95-96. Always has been. It's gotten down as low as 92 before but that was when I was in the hospital after back surgery. My blood pressure is in the low to normal range too and like you I rarely ever feel cold. Usually I need to have a fan on me.
I have been told that most doctors do not worry about low blood pressure so long as the to number are proportional. So if normal is 120/80 and yours is 100/60 then you are fine as long as the ratio of the two numbers is not drastically different. Another problem can exist if they are unbelievably low like 60/20 or something along those lines. I have had a blood pressure anywhere between 90/50 - 120/80 and I have never been told there was a problem except to watch to see if I get light headed or pass out since these are symptoms of a problem.
Please try to make an appointment with a cardiologist. I have mitral valve prolapse which has turned into regurgitation. The reason I suggest visiting one is b/c I noticed you mentioned having an ed and I worry it might be affecting your heart. :-\

I have these conditions b/c I am tall (5'11") and thin (roughly 128lbs) with long arms and legs.

Natural liquorice root has the side effect of raising bloodpressure. People with high BP are told not to consume it in tea or candy.
But if you have a BP problem, treat the problem not just the symptom. If you just patch at the symptoms, the problem goes merrily on...and can get worse.
