I'm Going to Thailand!!!!!

I lived in Bangkok for two years as an Amry brat around 4th and 5th grade and ever since I've been longing to go back.  Fast forward almost 40 years and finally I'm going to bite the bullet and go back.  I'm going on a week long tour with a group.  The agent actually asked if I had any dietary preferences and I stated that I was a vegetarian and she said "no problem, we have no trouble accommodating vegetarians".   Woot!  Many of the meals are included in the package.

I'm not going until November, but booked early to get a flight before the prices went up and booking early saved $100.  It's the trip of a lifetime and will break the bank and I can't wait until November!!!!

Awesome.  Trips of a lifetime are supposed to break the bank.  Will you be going anywhere near where you lived?

Oh Tweety - how exciting!!  I "marine corp bratted" Korea when I was really little and I've wanted to go back too.

Make sure to take lots of photos and share with us - some of us live vicariously through everyone else's travels!!!

I have no idea where I'll be in relation to where we used to live.  We lived in the city among the people on Soi 55 is all I know.  I might try to find it.  I have some fairly good memories of that time.  Of course adult eyes are always different and they've had economic good times the last 40 years so everything has changed.

That is so cool Tweety!  I am sure you will have a ton of fun.  Planning so far ahead gives you time to save for such a fabulous trip!

That's cool! I knew a girl who was in Thailand in the Peace Corps and she loved it. Good for you for traveling somewhere you really want to go!!

I reeeeally want to visit India, so I am trying to scrape together money for a trip there next summer or the summer after.

November will be here before you know it! I hope it is everything you remember and then some.

That sounds like so much fun!  You can bring the greyhounds to Maryland for babysitting.  ;)b

Believe it or not, I've already got a sitter lined up.....my ex...whom really misses his dogs  that I got custody of when I kicked him out 1.5 years ago (more than me of course) always has first dibs on babysitting.  Get this....he travels and will take two weeks vacation just to stay here and sit with the dogs.  At least he's good for something. ;D

That sounds terrific.

I'm going to Turkey at the beginning of next month for about three weeks, and then when I get back I'm going to Panama to live for a year. Or so goes the plan.

Hopefully both places will not hate vegetarians. (If you know what I :cactus: mean....)

I know what you mean.  We get a little spoiled here and there is no language barrier here.  Those trips sound so cool.  I'd love to be an expat again living abroad.
