I was wearing my "Don't ask me why I'm vegetarian T-shirt" and buying a copy of Veganomicon (I hope I spelled that right). The lady checking me out said she didn't need to ask because she's been vegetarian for 40 years! Wow! I wish I'd had more time to talk to her but there were a lot of people in the line behind me and my DH was anxious to get our shopping at Whole Foods, which is in a different part of the Quarry, done. She didn't look old enough to be 40! I guess that's a benefit of being vegetarian! ;)b
That's so nice when that happens! I would have been so excited. I love how as soon as you meet another veg*n it's like, "Yay! A kindred spirit! I must talk with this person!"
Note to self: start wearing veg shirts in public. ^-^
That's neat!
I think I would cross out the 'don't' for an..Ask me why I'm veg*n shirt! ;)

I didn't tell the whole quote, the next line is "Ask yourself why you aren't".

;) .......and then ask me why I am!
that's rad.
i think that's a sweet shirt, too.
don't think i could pull off that color, though.
Nice. I find that when I wear shirts (like Bridge School - Neil Young's annual benefit music "festival"), random people start talking to me. There's a B&N near me in my veg*n decolate area and whenever I check out with a vegan book, the cashier is vegan or their BBF is vegan. I really need to market myself more with tees, I guess.
I think I need to get one of them Tshirts!
In "The Diary of a Young Lady of Fashion for the Year 1773-1774" (not sure of the year) by Cleone Knox, the diarist speaks of going to the palace of Chanteloup and hobnobbing with French nobility over the summer. She meets a beautiful woman who turns out to be over 60 (a great age in those days). The woman tells her, "Do you know, my dear, how I have retained my good looks? All my life I have been loved, and all my life I have eaten vegetables."
And now that we have the buzzwords "antioxidants" and "flavonoids" maybe some of the Social X-rays are starting to pay attention...
that's rad.

I think it comes in blue and pink, too. I wanted yellow so my husband can find me easier when he wanders off when we're out shopping. I have a Vegetarianism = Nonviolence t-shirt with a peace sign that's blue with the lettering in green. I just wish they were better quality fabric. I don't think I'm going to buy any more stuff from Cafe Press.

I knew someone who had been vegan for 10-12 years (I think) and vegetarian for more like 25-30. She looked like 45-50ish, and later on she mentioned how she was going home to Minnesota for the weekend for her son's birthday... her son's 40th birthday. :D It wasn't just that she looked waaaaay younger than she was, but she acted it too. I am still somewhat-secretly hoping it's a result of vegetarian/veganism ;)

Whaaaa?! That better be me when I'm 60 or 70...
I think we all need to get veg*n t-shirts. Maybe a team vegweb shirt! Anybody up for designing one? I don't know if I'm any good at coming up with witty quotes, but it could say something like "Give peas a chance; visit vegweb.com" or "I'm a member of the vegweb team" or "seitan lives at vegweb.com" or something... I dunno. We'd be able to id each other if we ever came across another vegwebber in real life.

Good idea! I love my vegan shirts..and wish I could wear them every day (I don't think they would call them 'classy' for work). I'll think of some shirt ideas! :D
