I had dinner tonight with John Robbins and the makers of the film Bold Native.
For those who don't know who John Robbins is. . . he is heir to the Baskin-Robbins ice cream company. Rather that follow the ice cream parlor legacy founded by his father John left the company to advocate a vegan diet.
He is the author of "Diet for a New America", an exposé on connections between diet, physical health, animal cruelty, and environmentalism, which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
Also joining us for dinner were Denis Henry Hennelly (director) and Casey Suchan (producer) of the movie Bold Native. As a vegan you really need to check out the movie Bold Native.
:P
Was it dinner and the viewing as a fundraiser? How did you come to have dinner with the author of Food Revolution and Diet for a New America?

me too, for sure!

John Robbins came to give a talk sponsored by our vegan society. A few of us from the vegan society met up with John, Darin and Casey at whole foods of all places and had dinner at one of the tiny tables in front of the check-out lines. Obviously it was very informal.
Definitely see Bold Native. Darin gave me a copy on DVD. If you want to help support distribution of the film the best thing to do is ask Netflix to carry it. The film being released on DVD.

I had both books with me and was so busy I forgot to get John to sign them. Doh! My job was to set up the AV for John's talk and the Movie.
I'm waiting to see Forks Over Knives.

I saw a screening of Forks Over Knives last October It was very good. I wish I had a copy to share with non-vegan friends and family.

Me, three! (or four, whatever)
How cool is that. John Robbins is a hero of mine and very influential in my early consideration of veganism years ago.
