How come when I post replies they are gone shortly after sometimes? For instance, I replied to the favourite condiment thread earlier tady and now it is gone! This has happened to me more than once! Help! ???

Did you mention something about how vegans who serve meat in restaurants are wrong? That might explain it.

Nope. I only said that my favourite condiments were Dijon, soynut & cashew butter, Braggs, and hot sauce!
Did you actually see it get posted? It seems like vegweb is going through some growing pains and working on the site a lot lately. I have had several post 'swallowed' up by vegweb lately while I was mid post. Don't know but this could be your problem.
I have had trouble navigating the page some, esp at night in Europe which is midafternoon Stateside...like in the chat room it will "lock up" and I have to log out and then go back in to get it to work. Or I have trouble going from page one to page two on the recipe lists etc. Sometimes I think there are just so many people posting at once that the system is slowed down.
The lack of new recipes being posted tells me admin is either making changes or is extremely busy with their own lives, which happens! :)
That's odd. Be sure that you posted it.

There isn't a problem that we are aware of. When you post a reply, does the site act normally, does it take you back to the Q&A index? Do you see an error? In the future, when you post a message, please verify right away that the message posted by viewing the topic and looking for your post. If the problem occurs again, please use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any page to send us a message about the issue. Include as many details as possible.

By swallowed up mid post, do you mean that your browser crashes while you are typing? If so, you may want to run anti-virus and anti-spyware software on your computer and check that you have the latest version of your web browser software. Or do you mean that when you click the "Post" button, nothing happens? or that you receive an error?

When there is a problem going from page one to page two, does your browser just hang like it is trying to load the page but it never loads? Rather than logging out, have you tried clicking your browser's stop button and clicking page two again? You could be right that this problem is related to using the site in Europe when it is receiving the most US traffic. But logging out shouldn't be necessary to fix the problem if that's the case.
As far as the chat goes, it uses javascript. If you don't have the latest version of your browser software installed or the latest version of java (http://www.java.com/en/), it might help to upgrade them.

Yes but it's only this site. I have anti virus etc. My Bf's a computer guy so he keeps on top of this stuff for me. I also have trouble getting on sometimes. And again it's only this site. I just chalked it up to you guys growing so much.

If your browser crashes when posting a message only, there could be a javascript issue, or something of that nature. Does it ever crash when you are doing other things on vegweb.com?
To anyone else out there - Does your browser crash when posting?
By "trouble getting on sometimes" do you mean that your browser hangs? Does it only happen at certain times of the day? Or is it that you have trouble logging on?
Here is what I encounter if it helps,
Sometimes (not much lately though) I get a "server may be busy" message went I open vegweb. Other sites continue to work. This happens for 10-30 minutes that I can't open vegweb.
I also post sometimes and get a "your session has timed out" message (this is rare.) Causing me to lose whatever I was typing. I am permenantly logged on and it's not as if I've left the computer for a period of time so I never understand why I've received that particular message.
Also, I have had problems with the chat freezing up, as yabbit does.
The admin. did some cleaning up I noticed and got rid of some threads. Maybe there was a flame or troll in the thread?

That's my problems exactly!
Sometimes I get the green background...and wait...and wait...and nothing else comes through. So I either close that browser window and open another, or just go do something else (all other websites work) and come back later.
I think there are times the system is just saturated.

Thanks for the details! I'll look into this and see what can be done.

I don't get that problem myself much, but I've heard others mention it. Unless you've tried this already.. here's something: if you don't see anything after 1 minute, click your browser's stop button and then click the reload button. As you said, it could be that the server was really busy at that moment. We'll try to reduce the load on the server.

Thanks!!!

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. What I meant was after hitting the "post" button, I am taken back to the index of current topics/ threads in the Recipe Q & A section so I am led to believe that my post was successful. But when I go into that particular thread, my post in nowhere to be seen!
Another thing that has happened a couple of times when posting is when I use the "quote" feature and then add my own 2 bits only the quoted potion shows up- making it look as though I quoted someone without writing anything myself.
I haven't had problems with vegweb crashing on me but it does seem to load or go from page to page really slowly sometimes.
Thank you so much admin for looking into this! And a big thank you to the other members who have treid to help!
oops^ I meant "tried" not "treid". I can spell, I swear.... ;)
