NVR - Lead?
So in trying to avoid the harmful "brain-cancer-causing" waves emitted from my cell phone, I purchased a new headset from the store today. I already have one, but I wanted an extra to keep in the car cause sometimes I forget it at home... Well I got a great deal on one (on clearance for $3 usually $20 - I know crazy) only to get home and read the package which says "The cord of this product contains lead, known by the state of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. Wash hands after use." So now I am like great, I traded brain cancer for birth defects...
Would you guys return the headset? Or is lead in more things than we realize and should I not worry? I tried to research it online and it seems that lead is all around us... But then again I don't want to be freaked out every time I am using my cell phone either. What would you do? :-\
the water at my school has lead :D this post reminds me of one time at theatre while we were reading the bottle of some kind of glue it said "may cause cancer in california" i guess because CA has different labeling regulations they ONLY had to put that it might happen in CA there. We all laughed.
as far as the headset goes, I wouldn't worry too much. I mean as long as you aren't glued to it 24/7 (which it doesn't sound like you are), you should be fine.
Does your phone have a "speaker phone" function? That's what I use when I'm driving. Makes it fun if the person you are talking to starts to talk about one of your passengers. ::)
In reality....now I do wonder what else there is that I come in contact with everday that contains lead. Most likely the amount of lead in the cord would be so small that you would have to eat it, or eat several of them to be harmed. :o
Good idea about speaker phone Dave, unfortunately my phone does not have that option. I don't really plan on ingesting the cord, so you think I should be okay? ;)
Yes, you will definitely be fine. Keep that great deal of a cord! Actually, I recently read about mugs/plates/etc. made in China that often have lead in the paint because standards for dish production are different there. I have been avoiding dishes made in China for a while, but now I will avoid them not only for sweatshop reasons, but now health reasons too!
However, because you aren't going to be eating off your cord, you will be fine! ;) (The one exception would be if you have small children who might suck on it...so if you do have kids, just watch that they aren't sucking on the cord while you're in the car! ;) )
