Where would I find these? And what other kinds of personal protection can I use that is legal besides a gun? I seriouslly need to know....

I got my pepper spray at a sporting goods store... used it once and it really worked!
I don't know if they still sell it...but Target used to carry Mace and pepper spray.
Any place that sells guns will probably have pepper spray as well. As far as other protection goes, are you opposed to a stun gun?
I recommend you look in to some self defense classes/workshops geared towards women that will (more than likely) include instruction on various tools (ie pepper spray) as well as physical techniques.
For personal protection, while driving, I have a box cutter in the map pocket on the driver's door. I also have a box or two in the trunk, so IF I get pulled over (not likely) and they decide it is necessary to search my car (even less likely) I can simply say I was moving items in/out of storage.
But don't underestimate the power of a palm thrust up against the nose/throat. I have heard/seen it takes MUCH longer to recover from a palm to the nose than a hit to the groin.

Personal protection items that are legal vary state by state. I suggest you look up what you state law's are. Pepper spray can be found and purchased in any sporting good or gun store. The pepper spray sold for the general public use is normally a lower concentration than professionals carry. The strength of pepper spray is measured as Capsaicinoids. The higher the percentage the stronger it is. Some states won't even allow you to have a baseball bat in the front seat.
For my job I have had to be sprayed DIRECTLY in the face with (eyes open and everything) with it. It hurts! If you use pepper spray, I'd suggest getting a run through on how to use it properly. Like, do NOT stand downwind from it when sprayed and then RUN away. You do not want your attacker to get ahold of you after they have been doused with pepper spray.
I also second Hanashi's suggestion of taking a self-defense course. A major deterrent to attackers is YELLING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS! I'm not sure how effective a box cutter would be since the damage it would cause would only be superficial. Most times fighting back in general is enough to deter someone.... attackers want a victim, not a fighter. I know many effective blows and pressure points that really hurt.
Are you asking for general protection or against someone in particular?? If it is someone in particular, I'd suggest notifying the authorities. Even if they can't do anything, make sure they make a record of your complaint in case anything does occur.
Its for general protection that I think I'll be having to use or at least be prepared to use. I'm starting out to do private parties like dancing for men and just in case they get out of line. Haven't had any problems yet, but who knows and I'm not naive.
And I am not oppose to using a stun gun at all. I really don't think there are any self-defense classes here only martial arts ( I know that's not the same or similar at all, but one can use martial arts as self defense) in my area.
ya i definitely suggest having something handy in your car also especially if u have the pepper spray on your key chain... i know once their was a really scary guy in my car who i thought was going to attack me (i calmed him down) but my fucking pepper spray was on my key chain and i was driving so i couldn't use it on him!
OMG, where do you live that you feel so threatened?
Am I a complete moron that I don't feel this same need, too much of a small town country girl?
My uncle Mark used to teach me things, (mostly how to easily kill people, a bit extreme...). One thing he taught me was that if you are grabbed from behind, take the heel of your shoe and dig it in as hard as you can into their shin, hurts like crazy and they will let you go.

Are you doing these as an individual or as an employee of a private party company? Have you thought of using a chaperone when you do events? I had a friend that did this and always brought a male chaperone that sat out in the next room.
Sometimes pepper spray is sold as a dog deterrent, but it's the same stuff.

Private company.
As a girl u should have something to protect u!!! Their are way too many creepy guys in this world it scares me... I also carry it because I walk around alone at night quite often and early in the morning (to my car) due to crazy grocery store work hours so I think it is important to have some defense considering I am not very strong compared to a boy

The company doesn't have chaperones??
it seems like it would be safer to dance in a club than a strangers house. At least there is security at a club.
I will not go to someone's house and no, no chaperones. I'm looking around for different companies, one with drivers and some sort of protector. Mainly I need a way to stop a guy if he doesn't when I say "no".
