Procrastination Poll

Alright my fellow vegwebbers!
I have a macro economics paper due tomorrow. :( Anywhere from 1 to 3 topics, but a total of 6,000...yes, that's right, SIX THOUSAND words! :P I've known about it since the beginning of the semester. Why then, am I doing it the weekend before its due and while my in-laws are visiting?? And just disregard the fact that I'm here posting this while I should be worried all about the Great Depression! ::)
My homework days are over. :D
But, I have to say, that I was one of those students you hate - did everything on time (often before the due date), studied notes and text after class everyday, always did extra credit when offered, took extra classes, and was so on top of my time management that I had my day planned out in 15 minute increments. And I did this for 6 years of my life!
I don't do that any more, lol. Now, I'm enjoying the laidback , easy lifestyle. I don't even wear a watch or have a planner. I'm loving it.
you are like ALL the nutrition majors at my school. they drive me so insane. i am pretty sure either they don't sleep, they don't have social lives, or they don't have jobs.
i just had a final today which we had to "read" 4 papers for (to write an essay on them). i skimmed 2 of them and got bored with it. the other students in my class color-coded their highlights having to do with different theories and concepts... ::)... we'll just SEE who gets a better grade 8)

Yea, to be honest, when I look back, I have NO clue how I managed to sustain myself for 6 years doing that. I did have a job, but definitely zero social life ... I don't recall sleeping too well during that time either, lol. I really must have been completely insane.
Things are so much better now that I'm done with it all. I plan on never, ever looking at a planner again or owning a watch. Just looking at places like Office Depot makes me sick, lol. Those days are so over for me!
Just finished my paper due in 45 minutes! Yea! Gotta run...
I really wish we could, again, add napping to the poll.
I just wasted over half a day away napping instead of reading.
Can ya blame me?
Who wants to read "Advanced Psychological Statistics" text?
Yes,I know it would make the test much easier if I actually knew what I was doing, but sheesh.
I was going to vote on this poll earlier, but i decided to put it off for a while. :)
I use any and all methods necessary to procrastinate. i believe procrastination is an art form, not for the faint of heart. I think I do my best work when I'm under some kind of pressure. At the same time, nothing annoys me more than mediocrity and i insist on not only turning in exemplary assignments but going above and beyone the expectations. I often have ambiguous goals like "get the best grade in the class" even though i realize that: 1, some teachers give out high ranks to everyone and if you complete the assignmet you are going to get an "A"," just like everyone else in the class. And, 2, regardless of how hard i work or how much I know about subject there may be someone int eh class who is simply more gifted or skilled at that particular discipline and may receive higher marks than me anyways. Needless to Say, these personally expectations result in a feeling of inadequacy.... :( I also start to berate myself for having "slacked off," in fact, maybe thats the reason i procrastinate...so that i have something to blame if I don't make the grades I want....
ah this is like therapy, I feel as if Ive gained so much insight into my inner workings... ::)
Anyways, when Procrastinating i use this formula: if the sum (C) of M+T-R is greater than or equal to (R) M-T-C. then I have to begin the assignment immediately, if not...i can procrastinate until D=T (when D represents time remaining before deadline) When C equals the "cost" of a failed assignment (determined on a scale of one to 10 on semester, life or eternal impact) M equals my motivation to complete the assignment (a scale of 1-10 based on my feelings o well being, energy and if i will enjoy the project or not) T is the estimated time in hours that the assignment will take to complete and R is complete the assignment (again, scale of one to 10 on impact on life, class, etc...)
See, Procrastinating is an art form, not something to be ashamed of, ;D my friends...
I used to be like that too, Ecstatic. This is the first paper I've ever waited so long to finish. And now, I am down to the conclusion paragraph, which has always been my least favorite part. Maybe I'll bum around for a couple hours, go to bed, then wake up a half hour early to finish it tomorrow morning. I'm so flipping bored of this topic.
P.S. I did cheat by like half a page, but my prof said that the musical examples could count toward our final count. I'm going to photocopy four pages of my most important piece and stick that at the end. :) And my bibliographies are three pages long, so they look pretty kick ass.
Sharway, are you getting a musicology degree?

I have a final exam in two hours.
But here I am, reveling in the awesomeness of the WWPDD thread.
::)

I second what Hannah said. Not just an "art" form- a freaking mathematical formula!
I got nothing done today even though I planned on it. I told myself that I deserve a day off for all the hard work I did yesterday. Hahahahahaaaa.

Can you believe i once had a teacher tell me I spend moretime thinking about why NOT to do assignment than I would if I just did it?
Puh-LEEZE! What ever gave her that idea?!
I took the "liberal arts" option over "sciences" for psychology so that I could avoid more math classes... however, now I'm back in math classes for grad school. But I like statistics. It sorta makes sense.
GAH! I wish I had that option, unfortunately LSU got too good for the psychology liberal arts degree the YEAR before I started and only offered it in sciences.
:( :( :( :( This is me pouting :( :( :( :(

You're so cute when you pout.

Sharway, are you getting a musicology degree?
Sort of... it's a long story, but I'm between programs. Why, are you a musicologist??
Really, the word "musicologist" is just freaking super cool.
What does that entail, if you don't mind me asking?
Well, I'm a historical musicologist, so that's someone who studies music history. :) Very chic, no? That's pretty all-encompassing, but I study how economy, sociology, and politics (among other things) relate to music composition, performance, trends, etc. My paper/presentation was on the late works of Brahms and what events shape his late style.
Oh, and by the way, I must say, my paper kicked ass. Three other students came up to me afterwards to congratulate me. :D

Sharway, that's such a neat field of study! Chic indeed 8)
I didn't even know it existed.
I'd actually be really interested in reading your paper. I adore Brahms.
Good job! ;D
Oh I was just joking about the chic bit. Musicologists are the most boring people in the music industry. And we're all crazy.
KissmeKate, if you are really interested, I'll email it to you. (At the risk of putting you to sleep.) PMing you now!...

I'm "sort of" a musicologist too! I teach elementary music, but I have a Master's Degree in Musicology. I hope to go back for the PhD someday, and teach on the college level, but that's gonna have to wait a little while. I wrote my thesis on the contrasting ideals of the Russian Five and Anton Rubinstein/St. Petersburg Conservatory.

Oh how right you are, my friend! I was a total hermit in grad school....just me and my books! (and I totally dug it) :D
I'm "sort of" a musicologist too!
That definitely makes you a musicologist. It's a frame of mind, not a degree. :)
That's what I do! (Teach the little ones now, that is.) But I don't think I'm ever going to get the PhD, it's just too much. I'm not that serious, nor competitive, nor career-orientated.
Musicologist- too cool.
I don't care how dorky/boring/crazy you claim to be. :P
I was productive today regarding school!
YAY! So. close. to. being. done.
