Questionable items bought from op-shops

or thrift/second-hand/junk stores....

i love op-shops.

A couple of weeks ago I bought some toys for my dogs and....

a Barry Manilow record (purely for the song "ohh Mandy" - my partner's brother's current gf is a "mandy" but in a taking the piss kinda way) and my partner's response was like "can't take you anywhere".

I also bought a "Caitlen" Degrassi Junior High book for my sister...

anyone buy "stuff" that you just have to because it is either sooo bad or you know (secretly) you would've loved it ... back in the day.

I ummed and ahhed over a Bobby Brown "Humpin Around" tape to give to a mate whose recently moved interstate...

Dollar-shops are a favourite haunt of mine. This year, here in Spain, the new thing is "carpet bowls"...an old 18th century England fashion come back. Traditionally they were made of heavy porcelain or plaster, decorated, and used in the "stately homes". When it rained, you played petanque (bocci) in the "long gallery" to get a little exercise.

Well I went to the dollar-shop (well, OK Euro shop) and they had 3, blue on white, different patterns. So they came home with me. We don't have a carpet and these are really ornamental, not sturdy enough to play with, but I couldn't resist. There were other colours, particularly browns, or covered with--ugh--seashells, but it was the blue-on-white that started jumping up and down and squealing "Take me home! Take me home and I'll make you happy!"
