Is this real life?
(say the title like the youtube video of that kid after the dentist.. lol if you know what i'm talking about.. if you don't look it up cause it's hilarious)
OK, so the actual point of this: I saw on another forum (my raw vegan one) that "the world peace diet" was apparently in the top ten on amazon and trying to make it to #1... Awesome! So I go to check things out because I was a little skeptical, have never looked at the top ten and just wanted to see what else there was. WELLL... #4 is "the kind diet".. also vegan promoting, #3 is a michael pollan book.. not vegan, I know, but anti-factory farming, at least. World peace diet is apparently #6, AND #19 is a book by Neal Bernard.
I'M FREAKING OUT. Is veganism taking over the world?! This is serious awesomeness.
it is taking over! i am glad so many people are interested in it now! so many good books have been coming out lately and showing people that vegans aren't crazy people who munch on salad all day, the horrors of factory farming, and the health benefits of a strictly plant based diet... I love that people are becoming more aware of all this!
It's number 1 now!! That's so cool! I guess I should read it...
And I totally get your reference :)
I hope you are right. It does seem to me that Amazon's rankings can be a bit off at times as far as a books true popularity. At least where I live, the selection of vegan books in an actual store is quite sparse. To me that would suggest that someone wanting a vegan book would be more likely to buy books on places like Amazon. I don't know though. I'd have to research that matter. Regardless, that is exciting. It's nice to see that people are taking veganism seriously and no just labeling up as hippies and extremist, attention-seeking wackos.
do you guys need a link o be excited?

There was a special offer for all kinds of drawings and free downloads to try and get world peace diet as #1. I heard about it on Facebook and bought a copy... so neat, glad they made it to #1 for 12 hours!
I don't know if it was the same book exactly, but today, one of my unhealthiest co-workers asked me if I had ever heard of Neal Barnard. Apparently, she saw him on tv. Anyway, she seemed interested, but I doubt anything she heard is gonna stick. She thinks she can reverse her diabetes by eating vegan one day a week...without changing her habits at all for the remaining 6. I know every little bit counts, but still... :(

ya don't think that will work for the diabetes but hey it will save a few animals a year :)

If she eats in any way similar to my diabetic friends, they she will probably lose weight doing this, given enough time. This may have a positive impact on her diabetes. Who knows, maybe that will encourage her to eat right more of the time. Its a long shot but possible. I have a friend here whose husband eats "vegan/vegatarian" at home soley because of diabetes. His wife has started to lose weight too. His diabetes is gone, and they have a new lease on life. If I were to guess he's lost over 100 pounds so far. Veganism doesn't need to be the all or nothing proposition that many make it out to be, unless you claim the titile. Lol. A lot of little changes add up.

Yeah, I know that little changes make a difference, but honestly, she's looking for a quick fix. She wants to eat "healthy" once a week and then eat fried chicken with mac and cheese the other 6 days. If I thought she was actually looking to ease her way into a healthier lifestyle, I would be a little more optimistic. I would hope that if she started eating healthier just one day a week, she would gradually add more "healthy days," but I really don't see that happening. I really don't mean to sound negative, because I know some people really do want to change their habits.
I know it's easy to be negative about it. I usually am. Especially where I live, people have no clue and they don't want to get one. Its not really a vegan thing. They just don't understand nutrition and health at all. I used to get realyl upset about it.
