I am looking for ideas since it is so hard to get gifts for my mom and stepdad, so I want to know what you all are getting your mom's and dad's (or whatever the case my be).
Not a god damn thing.
An Amazon.com gift certificate.
you can always bake them something.
i always like giving my mom and gma bath and body works antibacterial hand soaps they r cheap and everyone loves them :) i am not talking to my dad right now but used to get him something food related (he likes nuts and black licorice)
I think I might get my dad a set of pens. My mom I always get girly stuff, like lotins and soap. Socks are always a good idea, who doesn't need socks?
Since you're strapped for cash right now I'd find them both cards that really express how you feel about them.... and maybe how they've helped with something positive in your life.
My Dad is getting a card, something with cherries in eat (edible) and a phone call from yours truely.
My Mom is getting some cute little kitty knick-knack things that she is going to love and of course, a card and a call.
We don't celebrate xmas so we don't do gifts... but they always appreciate heartfelt cards and handmade items for other occasions. I gave them these heating pads I made by sewing a rectangle of fabric, filling it about halfway with rice, and sewing up the rest of it. Then they put them in the microwave to heat them up and bring them to bed when they go to sleep. They love them. Simple and greatly appreciated.
My sister and I tend to 'go in' on gift purchases for our dad.
Last year, I bought a CD (a special, 3 disc recording of a live show), and my sister put together a few collages of the two of us growing up and put them in some nice frames she found dramatically discounted.
Also remember: Grandparents will LOVE anything having to do with their grandchild!!! My friend puts a calendar together each year with pics of her kids to give to her parents and in laws.
Do you have a good picture of them with your son? Just framing it with a little hand print on the back would be treasured, I'm sure!
gettin my dad 26 disc set Farscape box collection. scifi channel ftw
I'm deciding if i'm getting my mother anything or not. I think i'd get her a trans siberian orchestra cd, or pirate things if i did.
I'm waiting to see if we're even having a pre-christmas this year or not.
Framed pics of the kids are always great....or have your son do a finger painting and frame it. They love that stuff. Take a super close up of his face and blow it up to at least 8 x 10. then get a cheap frame and youre golden. :)
We are traveling to see them, which will be our gift. possibly accompanied by one of the things mentioned above.
I don't have a job this year, so I'll probably end up making my mom some jewelry and buying my dad a Penn State themed calendar. He's pretty organized, so he appreciates them, and like 2 days before Christmas they go on special for 50%.
I'm getting my mom a few seasons of one of her favorite television shows. I'm not really doing anything for my dad... we don't get along. I have a big extended family though, and I usually bake things for them.
With all due respect, Snowqueen, why are you worried about getting gifts for anyone when you're in such financial turmoil? Shouldn't you be more geared towards taking care of yourself and child?
Absolutely nothing!! They have everything and they never use what they get anyways so this x-mas the only people receiving gifts in our family are the kids. It's been kinda tuff this year on all of us so, just being together on x-mas will be nice. We're doing a dinner x-mas night.
